Any idea how much their selling these receivers? Ali chip stb must be quite similar to openbox/skybox receivers.

Is this the only Optibox using the Ali chipset?

I think the term would be official Optibox using ALI..in that case I think so...but.. you never really know for sure, Optibox, Amiko, ect, ect, and so on are manufactured many times at the same factory, others are not.. Most Optibox models such as the raptor and anaconda are made in South Korea and supported by coders from Fortis.

Over priced Amiko is Chinese and supported by the Chinese coders, Fulan Spark.

Golden Media ( much cheaper and faster) is made in the Tangier free zone in Morocco by GMI and also supported by Fulan Spark....lol

If Enigma 2 had blind scan support this would change things for the better for all.

So yes EC, I think so....lol

Thanks for posting those pictures Traian. I'm just curious as to its blind scan speed as most ali chip based receivers are quite fast and if all channel info comes up when you press the info button on the remote. To be a bit more specific, I would need to know instantly if what I'm watching is mpeg-2, mpeg-4, 480i, 576i, 720p or 1080i.

I wonder what the max number of channels and sat positions are.

Also the 128 meg dram is half of the other Optiboxes have.

The channel limit is listed at 5000 in the first post in the specs.. The ram is typical ALI stuff, they don't/cant' do all the other stuff the non ALI Optiboxes do or can do.

judging from the 5meg .abs file, must be an 8meg flash chip.
firmware isn't encrypted,just compressed.

96 sats in the default database, if you open the .abs in alieditor.
That has the old openbox beat, which have a 64 sat limit

That is interesting. Sat capacity has become my #1 issue with receiver specs. 96 is generous and should see the needs of the most intense FTA hobbyist.
The Openbox S-9 finally matured into a pretty good box, but you are right, only 64 positions, and that is why it is gone now.

To the great TRAIAN hello im the guy who has been asking your world sat forum about the alma 2200 fta which is also very simular to this new box you have .... this alma is also the same chip but only one single tuner also has the same ethernet or wirless usb type stick so you can acces u tube google and u porn!!!!

i can tell you folks who are reading this i wrote a review about the alma 2200 here in this forum but i will answer a few folks on stuff i learned from using the alma 2200 exact same chip as this new spider

the blind scan for this type of box is pretty good compared to the open box line using the best firmware i can use on the open box 6 18 12 it has the fastest and most accurate blind scan out of any firmware i have used on my open box s9 and i compared it to the alma 2200

and i know the alma is not a spider but the alma and spider optibox share the same ali chip 3606 so my guess is there about the same except the spider has 2 tuner and more bells and whisltes for card share so what!

the open box and alma both also miss stuff at times but over all the alma did find a few more hd feeds than the open box did so id guess the spider would to but there is work to be needed in improving over all blind scan speed on the alma 2200 on a few sats seems to take to long on some and and on other ku sats its about as fast as the open box line....

and as far as the display on the alma when you hit info there is no banner telling us like the open box if its sd 720 1080 etc so my guess is this spider box also is missing the info?

in this part of the world your card share stuff is non important ! no camms no emu we dont need it for shit what we need is a box that blind scan well doesnt miss close transponders that are active at the time we also would like a fta box that when were on a 1080 i 60 264 picture for it to say that when we change channels you keep missing this when folks ask you mr traiain??

so mr train are you the man who can say take this spider box/ alma 2200 and ask the place your buying these from to do improvments for us usa/canadains?

and for the record if i had a choice on buying an open box or a alma 2200 id buy the alma 2200 your boxs dont have any issues with sound like the open box like the lips match the words your boxs also let you blind scan in either h or v or both which is a plus...

and dude if you can offer the u porn on this spider box that would be a great selling point here in usa and canada

im not big into porn but wow! that u porn on the alma 2200 is a real plus...... i dont under stand how or why its free? but how ever you put this into your 2200 alma put it into the spider that will help sell it

now this next part is only my opinion about this legit site and selling fta units it would be nice for our members here to have a pretty good ali chip based fta to buy as a lower cost box like the open box line with out the open box mistakes and lack of support your line of the almsas 2200 fits this need! and or spider if its close in price

the spider well whats the advantage? 2 tuner? more stuff on card share we cant see your sats over in europe?

and no way in hell am i ever gonna use my fta hooked up to my computer to share a subbed card from nagravision sure i guess its done already but i dont like getting a knock on my door that im being sued or demand letters!

were not in england were not in germany we cant see your sats! we dont need iks capish!

and at least if this forum wont go for the spider the alma 2200 fta is a great lower cost ali chip based unit that has some neat apps like the u porn u tube and google no biggie but the u porn in it self should sell this box here....

also the alma has the 232 port in the back in case you need to recover itunlike cheap as micro! picture quailty over all is better than the open box and around 99 dollars is a great price for a lower cost fta for us folks who are real true fta users with out cheating!
