Need help does anyone know what to check on my sv 4000 was working before I put it up in closet . Hook it back up and no video ?

Mine has been in the closet for over 3 years as well. Are you sure your wires are hooked up properly, component or composite?

Most of these units were used for hack back in the n2 days, you may need to revert back to the original fw that this stb came with. Your welcome by the way. This should get your sv back to normal:

Does the receiver show any signs of having power connected? Is there 14/18 volts coming out of the lnb port?

everything comes up on display and i download factory ,but it still no video

This is what I understand: The display works, the lnb voltage is OK and you can see the receiver's menus.


What satellite are you aimed at and what lnb are you using?

BTW, I need to know if you can or cannot see the receiver's menus. I am confused on whether you can or can't see the menus.

For no video, I would try another video source on the receiver.

What satellites can you get?
It may be cheaper to replace the receiver than to try and fix what you have. Look in the link. EB

I have to agree with EB. The sv4k wasn't the greatest for true fta as I mentioned previously it was mainly manufactured for bin files and hack. The company has been sued over these issues.

What satellites are you trying to get?

Here are some possibilities:
Improper connection between the receiver and the tv
Tv set to wrong channel.
Improper setting in the receiver.
Defective cables connecting receiver to tv
Defective receiver.

About all we can suggest for you to do is to reload the firmware. You have checked everything else and cannot find any other problems.

I do need to know what satellites you are trying to get! EB

Also,
Change the remote control batteries. Replace them with batteries that you know are good!

thanks for help, I have been installing satellites for last 25 year as business. I have checked all cables. I have it hocked up to dish that is setup for my s10 openbox , I have the same settings, I have used this receiver in the past. Just took it from the closet to us as back up, it worked before putting in the closet fine. Redown loaded the factor files it downloaded fine , I could see everything on the display nothing on tv. Same cable used for S10 openbox on tv and hocked to dish.

Sorry to reply so late. The receiver is supposed to automatically detect PAL or NTSC mode but there is an option for it to not auto detect. Do you have another TV that will show a picture in PAL or NTSC mode? I have a DLP TV I use just for that when it happens with my Openbox.
