As mentioned earlier, the RCU is lethargic, unresponsive or too fast between menu displays. Solved this by removing the dark plastic front lens cover. Seems the transmitter lens is placed about one inch too far inside the RCU case. Now, it makes it worth while to use this receiver for the blind scanning speed.

Nice, how is the new file performing?

Still playing with it and finding some bugs. Saved my old sat list I created from the prior firmware only to find out I cannot reload it to the new firmware via usb. I am sure they will eventually correct some of these problems. I was given an editor which I haven't had time to try out yet. It seems to handle Xls, Sdx, Bin and Config files but no lan support, only RS232.

Will keep testing and finding more gremlins... LOL

Here you go...But I was disappointed since it won't read the channel list, among other short comings.

Did some more testing today and it looks like the new firmware will accept a sat and channel list created by the older firmware. It can be loaded by a usb stick. Makes it less tedious not having to reset sat list parameters.

After emailing iSmart regarding the RCU and it's short comings, they sent me a tracking number for a new unit. It's supposed to be a new version 2 and it will solve the problems. The tracking number indicates it's originating from China; most likely will be a couple of weeks before arrival.

But, I have to admit, they are trying to rectify the problems.

Received the new replacement remote control unit from China for the X7 iSmart receiver today . It is physically different from the older unit pictured on top. The transmitter is now exposed; before it was covered with a dark plastic cover.

The difference in performance is like night and day. I like the added IPTV key at the bottom. No need to go through all the menu items to gain access. So far, I have about 320 IPTV urls that I am converting from the Raptor and checking for errors. When I get the list cleaned up, I will post it.

What has me baffled is why they don't have any available on Amazon anymore. It seems like a rather short run for a receiver.

Yes it does, nor ebay either, but this box was from a South Korean partner of x2 so who knows why, it seemed to have great potential.
