I've always used satellites-xml.eu to generate satellite.xml files for E2. They are accurate and convenient. I found another site specifically developed for the VU+ receivers using their database. The coders claim they are up to date, plus they offer disabling inactive transponders in their sat generator. By doing this, E2 scans faster because it does not have to check inactive transponders.
The generated file covers the Atlantic and U.S. sats. If you want to remove bloat, just edit and delete the unwanted sats in the satellite.xml file.
