Hello all.

A friend asked me to check out his new openbox X5, its about 3 weeks old. it scans double on the same polarity no matter what Sat. Is there some setting that might cause this, or is the power regulator shot. Fimware version 9/20.

Thank you

D

Verify the scan settings are correct.
Select a vertical transponder in the receiver and measure the voltage for the lnb at the back of the receiver. You will need to butcher a jumper cable or make a test pigtail. Be careful not to touch the center of the coax to the shield during the voltage test. Select a Horizontal transponder and check the voltage on it.
A healthy receiver will have around 14 volts Dc on a vertical transponder, and it will have around 18 volts Dc on a horizontal transponder.

If the receiver checks out OK then the problem is either in the scan settings or the antenna system. EB

I check the voltage, it is putting out a constant 24 volts H or V. What would you suggest I do.

24 Volts Dc? Is your volt meter working correctly?

Tell whoever you bought the receiver from to replace it.

lol I checked it against my X2, which I love voltages there were 18.5 and 13.2. I will suggest he send it back.

Thanks for the help.
