Seems this receiver is also available as the DUO model which has the same specs, but is offered with dual tuners. The vendor has all ready issued an editor for these two models. See attached file.

I sent them one last night also. Seems the vendor is in Spain, but they definitely do not like to ship to the U.S. Let's see what response we get.

I got a reply from Carlos Sanchez saying that they are still looking for a distributor in North America. He told me he could send one and I could pay with paypal. I'm really thinking of purchasing one of these units.

Yes, Carlos is an admirable guy... At least he answers emails, three other vendors I contacted had no response. The price has gone up from 115 to 119 Euros with in the last few days. So without the Vat, it should be less. I think I will order one and try it out too.

Got another reply from Carlos Sanchez of Qviart UNIC‏ asking for my shipping details so they could estimate shipping charges. I haven't tested a higher end unit for a while and I like the features of this receiver so why not.

Thanks for the offer my friend but I already sent payment, I'm always trigger happy when it comes to new toys. He did cut me a bit of a deal since it's retailing for 119 euros without shipping.

The Android receiver looks interesting, but I can't find a price listed for it anywhere. Nobody seems to have it in stock yet.

The Android receiver is also similar to the Marusys PrismCube Ruby which is all ready out in the Euro market and is supported by BlackHole coding group.

Just received a tracking number from Carlos, the receiver is in Louisville, Kentucky. It should be here by tomorrow or Friday. Looking forward to testing it out on ku band.

The Android receiver is also similar to the Marusys PrismCube Ruby which is all ready out in the Euro market and is supported by BlackHole coding group.

The Prismcube Ruby retails for 279 Euros. The Qviart Undro is now listed as available from December 12th for 149 Euros! So I'm assuming that the similarity is only in software, rather than hardware. (Although, the Ruby has two tuners, I think.)

149 Euros is an unbelievable price, if the box is really as good as it sounds. (Keep in mind that just because it says it has blind scan, doesn't mean it's fast or accurate... We need to see actual test results!)

eastof111

True on the price difference. It originally retailed at 249 Euros then they corrected the price. Now some places selling them as high as 299. Inflation LOL....

"(Keep in mind that just because it says it has blind scan, doesn't mean it's fast or accurate... We need to see actual test results!)"

True again... I learned this the hard way when a receiver was advertised as blind scan only to find out it was a software/list based scan.

My main purpose for a receiver is to blind scan and to test its tuner sensitivity. All other aspects are secondary.

With these receivers having more powerful processors and linux or android software, would it be safe to say that 4:2:2 could be decoded with the right software inside the receiver and played back? Kind of like playing 4:2:2 recorded from an S9 openbox back through VLC?

eastof111

It depends on the chip being used. The chips that have 4.2.2 capability are more expensive. It all depends on the market the manufacturers want to target.
