Hi nightwolf, welcome to Legit. If you browse some of Costa's Atlantic C-band arc threads you can see what channels he picks up on 50w. I am not familiar with what is available in Central America for FTA but there are a lot of channels on 40.5w, 55.5w and 58w. Are there any channels you expect to get on 50w? Just make sure on the blind scan you scan for FTA or all.

I'm assuming you are on c band where there are many open channels but also a slew on encrypted ones as well. Enlace is the only open channel on ku at 50w. There plenty of open channels on several sats on the atlantic side like:

22w
27.5w
40.5w
50w
55.5w
58w
61w

and the American side of sats if you can get them from your location. I will scan Intelsat 1R at 50w a bit later on and report back.

A scan of Intelsat 1R at 50w gave me 22 open channels. Just a note that this linear sat was scanned with a circular feed, I will send my 10' bud over later and report back.

Just sent my 10' bud over to 50w with a linear feed, 32 open channels. Plenty of open channels on the Atlantic side as long as your dish is big enough for c band and with the proper feed of course.

the north american ku beam is around 100 channels but all nagra3 if I remember correctly.
the central america ku may be the claro tv also, maybe even the same channels scrambled.
Maybe try a different sat to aim for.

Hello Carlospr43,

I am using a 41 inch dish. Trying to capture KU Band and the LNB is an X2 LNB Premium HD.
I am in the west coast of Nicaragua. I have X2 Premium HD Receiver. I don't know what configurations I have. What is the username and password for the ftp site to upgrade the receiver with the files and channels?

"Is there another way to update my receiver with unscramble channels with claro tv ku band?"

Claro is a PAID subscription provider utilizing their own licensed receivers.

You can still utilize the X2 to receive many, legitimate FREE sat channels in your area as mentioned in the above posts.

I use to captured FTA 110W and 119W long time ago. using a 4 feet dish but now dish is destroyed because of Hurricane Alma hit Poneloya Coast at Nort pacific of Nicaragua. now I'm Claro TV paid subscriber, I don't like the crap channels they offers.

I purchased the X2 Premium HD Edition receiver, with a LNB ku band, the Dish Im using is from Claro, and I have another dish from SkyTV is the same size.
is there a possibility I could capture sats with more than 100 channels open with Claro Dish?? Intelsat 1R 50w 37 channels scrambled all.

I would suggest the following:

Check [Only registered and activated users can see links] for free in the clear programming available by sat.

Then I would go to [Only registered and activated users can see links] to check out the foot print for the sats you're interested in receiving. It will tell you the signal level required for your geographical location. Or, [Only registered and activated users can see links]

Then I would check the attached jpg and compare signal levels for the particular sat to size of dish required and you should get an idea of what you can receive with the dish you currently have. There's another poster here that lives in Belize and has an X2 (Gary Bidwell - do a forum search for his posts). You might be able to gain some valuable info from him. Good luck!

I would suggest Hispasat sats at 30w with about 50 open channels:
