Just bought one of these. Should have it next month some time:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

It boasts a 1.5ghz dual core processor running android. Also has 3 usb ports and a micro sd slot. Should be nice to test. I would like to potentially step into the world of Enigma2 with this one. Hopefully the tuner is satisfactory.

Can't wait for the review Rob.

USPS just delivered the receiver. It is a little bigger than the m100 receiver. The blind scan is a stepped blind scan similar to Pansat or the Triplex. Not the fastest. I will post more info and pictures later once I am able to navigate the mandarin menus.

Looking forward to the review Rob. Has the price changed since you ordered?

It was on sale for 70 when I bought it. It is now at the normal price of 80.

The diseqc 1.0 settings say, AA, AB, BA, BB instead of 1-4. I haven't found a motor menu for USALS or diseqc 1.2

The satellite portion of this needs work. More options specifically. There is no 10750 lnb option or manual entry option. There is a 10050 and 11300. It has options for a universal lnb (9750/10600)

I scanned 99w Cband and some of the channels don't have audio. The receiver claims support for: MP1、MP2、MP3、WMA、WAV、OGG、OGA、APE、FLAC、AAC、M4A、3GPP… etc Audio formats.

The receiver has Android. It seems that my wireless keyboard should work for it. I will have to see which apps are worthwhile on this machine. It has a microsd slot. I would like to find a way to possibly run different operating systems on this.

Anyway you can change the audio from the menu on those channels?

There were no other options when I pressed the audio button for the channels that lacked audio. The blind scan missed the lower symbol rate transponders but I was able to scan them in via manual entry. The box seems to have more hardware built in for streaming online. I will have to find apps to stream some online video and see how it works.

It is very common for fta receivers to advertise specs that they are not capable of or cannot achieve. For example, the Micro HD from SatAv is advertised to receive a maximum transponder symbol rate 0f 45000, but there are reports that you cannot lock a 45000 transponder with it. So it is not much of a surprise to me that you have audio problems.

Drivers are the key. You need drivers to operate the wireless keyboard and to make other features work correctly. The hardware is probably very capable, but things will not work correctly without drivers and other manufacturer support.

All these small to medium sized Chinese companies find it more profitable to release a potentially good product, but do not hire coders necessary to develop firmware to produce the advertised specs. More emphasis is in the reverse engineering aspect of products and the substituting of mediocre parts as a cost benefit. Most of their products look good on paper, but once you get it home and plug it in, that's when reality hits. There are exceptions to some of these products, but even the exceptions have their problems which never seem to be fixed or finalized.

Both of my usb wireless keyboards work with this including my new Logitech K400. Just finished installing xbmc 12.3 and it works well with this box. Faster than my laptop.

Any firmware updates yet to fix the scanning? Looks like with the keyboards and XBMC you should have a good media box.

Cool... never tried that before with a receiver.

I just loaded Gotomeeting on it and it loads my webinars from work fine. The android functions are great but the fta portion of it could use some more options. I would like to find a channel editor for it.

I got a feeling looking for the editor will be like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Any idea what extension the files use?
Can you access the OS via your pc?

Connect the box to your local network then type the ip of the box into your browser. See if you can connect to the box this way.
Also, try to connect using FileZilla.

I haven't dumped a channel file for this yet. I will try later this evening when I get the box hooked back up. Doing some rearranging today.

filmon works well with this receiver also. I am able to tune into many of the local ota stations using this app.

eb there is an option in the menus for Samba. I am not familiar with that program but it seems to be some sort of networking program. The ip address did not load from my laptop.

I could never get Samba to work with windoz xp or x64 so I gave up and used XBMC and windoz x64. Set it up as tuxbox://192.xxx.xxx.xxx:80/ in XBMC connects just fine with E2 receiver. Don't know if you have the tuxbox type files in your receiver. But you might also try all the other protocols in XBMC, you just might get lucky.

Can anyone help me???
I have erased my box due to some error in booting.
Now I have flashed some other firmware but remote control is not working at all.

Can any body provide me link to factory firmware to this box gk526s???

I do not have any factory firmware for your receiver, but the remote not working is expected when a different firmware is installed. You may try to gain control of the receiver by using a cheap, programmable remote. EB

I brought my receiver home finally. Before I did I downloaded Hayday and played it. There was no issues with the framerate or anything like that. I also did a speedtest there. I typically get 13mbps or so at that location. For some reason with my phone and this box I am only getting about 5.5. Maybe it is the limitations of the built in Wifi. The Android version is 4.2.2

Your speed will drop slightly when you share devices and depending on how your router (# of download and upload channels, QOS, etc) shares the connections. How's the sat side of that receiver? Have you played with it yet?

rrob311
09-14-2014, 09:01 PM
The sat side is satisfactory as far as the tuner , blind scan and ability to edit channels. However I did run across a few channels that lacked audio. It also needs more lnb settings. There are no motor settings.

The speed is about 40-50%. I have been running the tests with no other devices taking any bandwidth. I would like to find a way to maximize the speed if possible for streaming.

eastof111
09-14-2014, 09:09 PM
If no other devices are connected, the only way to maximize the signal is to play with your router settings and see which ones the receiver likes. The stronger the signal to the receiver (router closer) the better constant speed you will attain. Forget to say also, interference (certain lights, phones, etc) will play a part in a lower quality of the signal.

Im going to look around for some better firmware. I have a hunch that one of the other generic receivers using the same chip will work.

I finally upgraded my internet speed from about 1.5 mbps to 25 so I am able to stream a lot more with this box. So far it is running pretty good for streaming. Need to test some HD streams for this and see what she'll do.

Cool, now you'll be able to stream Euro sites if that's your goal.

I noticed in the Satellite list menu there are no options to edit the satellites. In another screen I saw the colored buttons at the bottom of the menu. There is a framing problem so you can't see the colored buttons. At any rate, here are the options in the Satellite list menu:

Red button- Edit satellite

Green button- Delete satellite

Yellow buttion- Add satellite

Blue button- Multi satellite search

In satellite settings, here are the functions for the colored buttons:

Red button- TP setup

Green button- Single satellite search

Yellow button- Multi satellite search

In TP setup:

Red button- Edit TP

Green button- Delete TP

Yellow button- Add TP

Blue button- Manual scan bar
