NEED HELP, WHEN IT SAYS DO NOT TURN POWER OFF don't do it . I made a mistake and was going to backup my channels data and push button and it started to update, I tried to get out of it and hit power button and now it is stuck on bottom. If anyone knows how to help please let me know

I would suggest that you contact the x2 team to see if there is a restore file. I've only had the mini for a few days and you have more knowledge of this receiver then I do.

Already done,I hope I don't need the special Rs232 cable that did not come with it.

A recovery from this should be possible using RS232. You will need to get the specifics from the manufacturer.

That what I believe, but it takes a special cable that I don't have. And getting things here takes 4- 6 weeks being I am in Belize.

Gary, just curious, what's different about this cable. Are they changing plug formats?

it is a 1/4 jack that connects to the receiver I don't know what is at the other end. Like a ear phone jack

If the plugs aren't proprietary and you have access locally, you might ask them for the pin outs and try to make them your self in order to save time. Either way, it's a bummer being in this situation, especially with a new receiver.

Yes and I just got everything adjust and tuned in perfect. I ask for a pin out of the cable. hope they don't take to long to get back with info. I would like to be able to record Christmas specials.

It should be three wires: RX/TX/GND
So that would give nine possible combinations you could try without using the correct pinout, provided you know which pins are RX/TX/GND on the computer side.
You will need a rs232 loader from X2, and maybe a recovery file.

I expect you to have the needed information soon!

Gary

Thanks a lot for all the info!! This looks like a pretty easy to build cable. The recovery file is missing the factory file needed it so I assume the file posted here should work. Let us know if it works for you.

The file you use is one of the regular receiver files I used the July file and it worked ok. I had to choose file tell it to download and than plug power into receiver.:th_hi5:

I put the file in the file area (GXdownloader) and use usa-premium_mini07-14.bin file to load.

Thanks!! Can you post the July file in the X2 premium Mini files section?? I will delete the regular posted there. Again, Thanks

Just to be clear, I never saw a recovery file posted. Only a RS232 Loader. I would assume any known good firmware file for this receiver will work for recovery using RS232.

Based on Gary's experienced looks like any good file will work. He use the july version he has. I will ask X2 to send an official factory or recovery file that we can attach to the loader, thks

the Loader is the program to recover with you choose of system bin file. You can use any one of the update file from X2. It takes about 10 min. to download to the receiver.

I'm a bit confused. My mini has the September 30 file with boot version 386 US version. Do I have a regular mini or an se? This post is not meant as a hijack of this thread.

I also got confused from Gary's. I dont have a mini so I assuming he has a Mini special edition and has told the september file was for the regular so I removed it from the files section. I also thought that he tried the september file with the recovery process and couldnt use it.

I have a X2 Premium Mini new edition. The GXdownloader is to be used to recover, using any of the bin files for the X2 Premium Mini new edition. You need to hock up the data cable with no power on the receiver, open GXDownloader, choose bin file I used July premium_mini.bin ,you can use 30 Sept.bin if you want(there is no special file to recover just use update file), choose download then plug receiver in. it should start to load file.

Bricked my X2 this evening. I decided to update to the November software using network and all went fine until it rebooted...stuck in BOOT with no video output! Never had any issues with previous updates.

Dug out my old XP machine with a real RS232 port (glad I never got rid of it) and used the loader software I found on this site. I then cobbled together an RS232 cable using the pin outs provided above and that was a no go.

If you're building a cable to plug into a male RS232 port on your PC, this is what worked for me...

Tip goes to #2 (RxD), center goes to #3 (TxD) and the bottom goes to #5 (data ground). Numbering is basically a mirror image of what was posted.

Luckily everything is back up and running but I'm not about to try the November update again.
