I was thinking of flashing my solo2 with the latest OpenAtv image just to see how it compares. Just curious as if the blind scan function would work with this image.

No problems with OpenAtv and blind scan. East, didn't you say you are using this image as well? I'd like to change the skin, weather info and any other things you would suggest.

Looking at your screenshot, the resolution for the receiver is not set correctly for your television.

Skins will be a personal preference. Skins may be downloaded in the plugins menu. I suggest downloading several skins and see what works best for you.

I have spent a good bit of time lately modifying the blindscan plugin. The blindscan will be about the same in every image because the binary file that does the actual scanning Is Not in the blindscan plugin. All the blindscan plugin does is start the blindscan or transponder search, set parameters, and provide a few extra options or features. The binary file for the receiver does the actual scanning, not the blindscan plugin itself.

Do you have any idea where I can change the city for the weather that shows up on my screen? Any idea where I can change signal quality to db? This image is a bit different from the OpenVix.

For ATV:
System>Extended System>OSD settings>Settings>Swap SNR in % with SNR db.

"Do you have any idea where I can change the city for the weather that shows up on my screen?"

Post a picture and the skin name you are using.

Thanks East but it gives you on screen prompts to find your city designated number on yahoo weather. It found my city but I can't find its id number to enter for my city.

It's all good but I can't seem to find the skin I was using with OpenVix which displayed the upper part which showed lines with signal quality/db levels.

What do you find different in OpenATV than OpenVix? These images are about the same to me.

I don't see too many differences at all between the 2 images, with the exception of menus.

That will be about the only difference you find....

Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links]

then select the state, then the city, then highlight the url displayed in your browser and the last seven digits displayed will be the ID number for your city.

Next time you have Vix loaded with the skin you want, go to the systems menu and find the skins preferences and you'll see which skin is loaded and its name.

OpenATV releases an image upgrade almost nightly. This allows anybody that wants to beta test the opportunity to do so.

OpenVix only releases approved images that have been tested by a select group. OpenVix does not normally release nightly builds.

I think OpenVix is the best image for the beginner in North America.

I decided to go back to OpenVix, much more user friendly for me. I have also decided to use my solo2 for ku band as well.

Later, you might want to play with multiboot. I keep a stable image in flash (Vix or NFR) and test all others via the usb stick. For me it's easier and faster to reboot to another working image from a usb stick than flashing and restoring settings.

Another reason for me using multiboot, I backup picons, some skins old and new and some other settings that would take a long time to restore after a flash. The only time I'll change the flash image is when it necessitates loading a new version that won't upgrade via online.

Makes it easier for me in case something goes sour, the only thing affected is the usb stick image being used.
