I can get a 8.5' spun aluminum dish for free,but the edges are dented in like it was dropped.
Is there any way I can check a parabola to make sure it is kosher before I grab it?
It is 50 miles away and I would have to strap it on the back of my pickup truck (8 foot bed w/t)

I would get the dish, even if it is warped because you may be able to use the mount or other parts.

I know the lnb isn't centered,I tried playing with it about 5 years ago for a day and I couldn't get anything with it.
I could probably use a laser pointer to line up the lnb correctly if I got it.
I know the motor is now shot.He did have a vbox so I may grab that too if I can find it in his cellar.
I just used a stand alone prosat 210 positioner to play.
