The new Edision OS Nino Pro S2X will be the first fta receiver with a tuner that supports DVB-S2X And MIS/PLS blindscan!
I am seeing prices with shipping included of around $130.00 U.S. This will be my next fta receiver to test and play with unless something unexpected happens. It will be interesting to see what this receiver can or cannot find during a blindscan. Support for the OS Nino Pro should be exceptional.

I will post more information about this receiver as it becomes available. It should be noted that this Is Not a 4K receiver, but it does do HEVC.

It Looks Good EB, to bad is not 4K, but I read that they have a 4k coming out by the end of the year, it would be great if it has the same capabilities as this receiver.

My Edision OS Nino Pro S2X arrived today. The price was about $132.00 U.S. with 4 day shipping included. A blindscan of 97w ku took 1 minute 45 seconds which is I think about the fastest time for an enigma2 receiver on that satellite. 215 Radio and TV channels were logged in the scan of this satellite. Other satellites that I have scanned are completed in 3 to 5 minutes. Overall, I say a very nice entry level receiver so far. The Hauppauge 850 ATSC 1.0 usb tuner was connected and it is recognized as a valid tuner.

Awesome! yeah I just scanned 97w ku with the zero4k to compare and it took 2:55 only free scan 1-45 symbol and found 228 channels. So Edision was faster but zero4k found more here. I guess you would have to hook your zero4k up to your dish to get a true comparison of those two boxes.
Thanks for the review.

Is 228 Correct OR did the Zero 4K find duplicates? I will try to answer that question a bit later...
Anyway, No 4K on this receiver so the Zero has an advantage in that area.

I had to blind scan again to check took 3:17 that time but still found 228 and I don't see any duplicates.

I really don't think no 4k is no big deal especially for someone like me that only does ku band. Most if not all 4k is on c band or ku band DTH and i bet if any sporting events ect. are broadcast wild feeds in 4k they would be scrambled anyway.

Will it scan in all of the radio feed channels with names on 105w?

Every enigma2 fta receiver that I have owned will scan all of those channels with names. Getting those channels to play is a different story. I will check this for you as time permits. It usually takes some time for that satellite to scan as there are over 2,000 entries the last time I scanned it.

Ordering was painless, with pay options including PayPal.
Got a note saying the receiver was dispatched Monday, and got it today (3-4 days).
I will post about this vendor in the proper section as time permits. Would buy from them again!

I made comment about the blindscan not going below 2000 Symbol Rate. New drivers appeared almost immediately after that comment was posted. Never got drivers that fast before...

Here is a collection of 4 blindscans done today using the new drivers. This shows what to expect when blindscanning C or Ku bands.

Will it scan in all of the radio feed channels with names on 105w?

It will scan them all in, but will not play the AAC audio feeds.

Does the receiver not work with AAC audio? Many of those channels are offline most of the time. I can't check any of them at the moment to compare. I see an optical port on the rear, perhaps the audio will pass through that.

Those channels are a problem for many receivers that are advertised to have AAC audio. I think I might have two or three receivers out of my whole collection that that are capable of scanning what is on that satellite, and playing the audio those channels produce. An offer has been made to fix it or try to fix it in the OS Nino Pro, but the stream needs to be recorded. I have had no luck recording that particular stream.

The new style blindscan plugin has been Adopted by SDGr. While I find the new style useful, I also find it not useful. So they added the option in the blindscan menu to do either one! Sort of like having the two blindcsan plugins in one!

"channel scan" searches for channels and saves them to your receiver; "transponder scan" does a transponder search and displays the results allowing user to select some or all transponder. Both options save the results in satellites.xml format under /tmp

There is no information on the Edision 4K because it exists only in development. We should know when it is available for retail.

Blindscan on the Edision OS Nino Pro has found transponders from around 800 symbol rate to 45000 Symbol Rate.

Improvements were also made to the SatDreamGr Image so transponders logged 2 MHz apart will be scanned. What is found in blindscan will be scanned, unless the transponders are logged closer than 2 MHz apart. The first transponder found will be scanned, and the second transponder will be deleted from the scan list when two transponders are closer than 2 MHZ apart, and have almost identical symbol rates.

Service Scan Time Includes Blindscan Time in these screencaps.

Here is a comparison of OpenATV and SatDreamGr. Both images have the latest updates that are available.
15295 15296

15297 15298

OpenATV is deleting transponders that are closer than 4 MHz apart while SaDreamGr is deleting transponders closer than 2 MHz apart.

The OpenATV scan time is noticeably slower than SatDreamGr.

I think any image is a good image if it allows you to watch the channels you want, and if it has the features you need.
Easy to see that SatDreamGr has an advantage in scanning right now.

The Nino Pro is the first receiver I have owned that will blindscan multi-stream transponders and resolve them. The Zero 4K can find the multi-stream transponder and log it, but it cannot resolve or successfully scan the transponder it logged.

The multi-stream example shown here is at 125W c band.
The transponder is 4140v music choice channels.

Scan returns nothing for that transponder. (91w ku 11999 H 32728 )

The mid term election last Tuesday made some interesting scans.
Here is a link to a video of a 103W ku blindscan that returned 69 transponders. [Only registered and activated users can see links]!OpEAlCoI!puEZ-LQuVLdIkB_5-4_NAE98KkElFMl6edTpDV1JK_w

The Nino Pro has a couple of blindscan issues.

(1) DVB-S transponders are found using a FEC of AUTO. Sometimes a bad FEC (2/3,7/8) is shown instead of Auto.
This issue is only cosmetic and has nothing to do with signal quality or channel reception.

(2) Blindscan will hang sometimes when searching for 1000 Symbol Rate transponders.
This issue has only appeared or only happens when low symbol rates of 1000 are selected in blindscan. Low symbol rate 1000 is my default setting.
This issue is not predictable, and does not happen often. But it does exist and Edision knows about it. We will see if it can be corrected or solved, but it does not happen often enough to worry much about it. Blindscans using symbol rates of 2000 and up have never hung up with me.

DVB-S2X transponders found in blindscan will automatically be displayed as DVB-S2.

Other receivers such as the Vu+ Zero 4K would identify DVB-S2X transponders as DVB-S2X. This created a problem because DVB-S2X is not yet defined in the enigma2 operating system, so the fta receiver would crash when the Zero 4K logged a DVB-S2X transponder in blindscan. Code was added to the blindscan plugin file to keep the system from crashing when a DVB-S2X transponder was found during blindscan.

The OS Nino Pro automatically assigns DVB-S2X as DVB-S2. This is done in the tuner software, so DVB-S2X is seen as DVB-S2 in blindscan. The only thing I do not like about this is I cannot see DVB-S2X transponders being logged by using telnet terminal. You can see some blindscan data using telnet, but this is not something that is commonly done.

The only clue to tell if a DVB-S2 transponder that is logged in blindscan Might Be DVB-S2X would be that the FEC is set to Auto. However, it could also be, and more likely will be DVB-S2 that has no FEC assigned or no FEC found.
Anyway, this is what we will have until DVB-S2X is properly added to the enigma2 operating system. The positive thing about this is there are only a few active DVB-S2X transponders right now in the entire world.

EB, see If this feed plays with the Edision pro 91w Ku s2 11744 v 7200 auto 8psk
It is one of those 4:2:0 feeds that acts like 4:2:2
It came in one time with the zero 4k but once I changed the channel and went back to it just black screen with audio.
