Hello, everyone

Long time member of Satelliteguys (also as comfortably_numb) and have finally decided it's time to join this forum, at the prodding of my friends there.

Here's the issue we discovered recently; the NBC VOD 9 and NBC VOD 13 channels no longer log in OpenVIX, OpenPLi or TNAP. They do, however, log on my Amiko HD.265 appliance STB.

@rayydio says he was able to log them using OpenSpa, but I have not tried that yet.

Any ideas?

Hello & Welcome to Legit!

I will take a guess that these channels are on the 11880H 30,000 SR transponder?
The channels you mention are in channel files that are about 1 month old. I notice Lyngsat does not include these channels, but SatHint does. So one of those sites is wrong it would seem.

NBC VOD 9 and NBC VOD 13 are not found in a transponder scan or a blind scan. I assume they are not active right now. Please verify for me that these two channels are working on your Amiko this afternoon. Maybe we can figure out what the problem is if they are active today. Thanks.

Looking at the scan log will usually tell us if channels are being scanned, then discarded as being bad or unsuitable.

Nothing seems to be missed or thrown out during the scan of 11880H, 103W. Cannot really go any further than this unless these channels are able to be scanned right now using a different receiver.

Yes, both feeds are currently active right now in frequency 11880 H 30000, using the Amiko HD.265 receiver. I'd post a screenshot but not sure how to upload images to this forum yet!

Edit: A scan of this frequency on the Amiko doesn't find the VOD feeds. I'm tuning them from a previously stored channel list.

Pictures or screencaps are nice, but we might make some progress without them.
If the Amiko is not scanning them, then we cannot really expect other receivers to scan them.

Are the stored VOD channels active? Do they have a picture? My stored channel lists that has these VOD channels only had a black screen when I checked earlier this afternoon. If the VOD channels have a picture and sound, please post the PIDS so they can be tested in other receivers.

Looks like you have a signal, but no picture or audio, correct?

The MIO can also show a signal for a dead channel.
15920

The MIO will also complain about it, and tell you it is dead. Appliance type receivers may not show this error on a dead channel.
15921

Enigma2 works a bit different in the information screen. It will only display "live data", whereas a lot of appliance type receivers display whatever was originally stored for the channel. No PIDS are active in the MIO, so none are shown in the info screen.
15922

Looks like these VOD channels are dead? Cannot do anything else until there is a picture and/or audio on these channels.

There was video a couple hours ago until NBC Prime Time programming ended. I'll check again tomorrow.

Try to scan it once you see an active picture. I also notice the same video pid being used on Ch09 in the same mux.

Dvbsnoop is also a useful tool that will sometimes find things that are "hidden."
Only returns 4 video streams tonight though.

How does one use Dvdsnoop EB?

el bandido
06-09-2019, 09:36 AM
To use dvbsnoop with OSMIO, or other single tuner DVB S2 enigma2 receiver with OpenPli based image:
(1) Start a telnet session with the box.
(2) Install dvbsnoop. Enter this command in telnet: opkg install dvbsnoop
(3) Tune the box to a DVB-S transponder you wish to scan. (Transponder must have signal.)
(4) Enter this command in telnet to start pidscan: dvbsnoop -s pidscan

See post #9 for an example.

It's live right now, airing tennis. Even though the information screen says "Dolby Digital," I have no audio.

Video stream 512 is currently being used by CH09 on the same mux.
15924

The tennis match finished a few minutes ago on CH09. You will probably have audio if you change the audio pid for the VOD channel to the same audio pid as shown in the screencap for CH09.

Most likely your Amiko is just getting a duplicate of CH09. I have never known two services on the same mux to share the same video pid, but I guess anything is possible. How can the two services be different if the video pid is the same???
You will have to show a different video picture for the VOD channel at the same time CH09 is playing before we can do anything else. I am pretty sure you are just seeing a duplicate of CH09 on the VOD channel.

Makes sense. Wonder why NBC yanked their DD 5.1 feed?

That is a good question. Maybe the DD 5.1 will return one day soon.
