You know if this box will do 4:2:2? Just curious as to how much it costs and where you could by one.

The Raptor,Anaconda and Alien most probably all are 4:2:2 capable. Pricing and where to buy information is still pending.

Team Amiko will be here to help with support, files and utility's.

More info to follow Costa....:yes2:

4:2:2 Is a video codec. it should not be a problem for the Optibox or for the Amiko Alien. We have support to make this happen if at all possible.
Information on where to buy one will be available soon. EB

That would be great if can do 4:2:2 right out of the stable or they will work with us to make it happen.Dolby E???? would be nice.
Always welcome for a new box that is way ahead of those openbox s9,s10,s12 or Manhattans...Tho am sure if being linux based like the AZ a new NA sat ch list is a must for us I wonder if the support will be equivelant to the AZ for editing programs.

I am building us a sat file, so we should have something to work with.
We have been told that there will be support for these receivers for us. I figure if 4:2:2 works on the Amiko 8900 then it will work or it can be made to work on the Optibox. My Amiko should be here next week so we will have to wait and see....EB

Upload a sat file that you have scanned with these birds in it and I will work on it. I stop at 30W so I do not know what is available or what transponders are active below 30W. Plus, I do not scan much below 61.0W either. EB

Attached is a .pdf file that shows the various tuner configurations for the Raptor.

This receiver has removable tuners that install similar to a pc card. This allows the owner to change the tuner configuration if desired. The Optibox tuners can support cable, terrestrial (OTA tv), and satellite services. You can have any two of these three services.

I noticed what appeared to be gold plating on the tuner connectors. If true, This is the first fta receiver that I have seen with any gold in it in a long time. Gold and other precious metals is one of the first things I look for on a pc board. All of the Ali receivers I looked at have nothing more than silver in them. PC chips have a bit of gold, but it is on the inside of the chip and cannot be seen on the outside.

Here is a list of features that I have made. This list was taken from the owner's manual and other sources, and it may or may not be 100% correct. I will try to verify this list when I get the receiver.
The receiver is listed as having an intelligent blind scan. I have no idea what this is supposed to mean or if it is better or worse than our current Ali receivers. I am anxious to try it and see what it does!!! EB

Just curious as the difference between intelligent blind scan and the regular blind scan that were accustomed to on our receivers.

I would like to know where to find a hard drive to go on the inside of the receiver. I think the max is 1TB. Disc size should be 2.5 e-sata. I am having a hard time finding one like this. EB

Yes. Look at the video and .pdf file in post#10
You can have any two: FTA, ATSC, or Cable.

I think the drive in the link will work.
It will be nice to have a 1 Terabyte drive installed in the receiver instead of having to fool with external wiring and hardware!!!

Intelligent blind scan!!! Now I understand!!!
The Raptor has a two step blind scan. First it scans for transponders. Then it scans for channels on the transponders it found. Nice!!!
Thanks for getting this Raptor fixed up for me. I will be setting it up and starting a review thread on it shortly!!! EB

That's the norm for Pansat receivers as well.

el bandido
02-22-2012, 02:38 PM
It used to be. The Pansat 9500 does it all in one step.
The Raptor just found about 70 channels at 30 West ku. I believe that is better than most receivers.

That's very good, my scans usually come up with about 55-60 channels on that sat.

el bandido
02-22-2012, 03:21 PM
The Raptor found 18 transponders on a scan of 113W ku. It also found 34 tv and 7 radio services. The wind is blowing in gusts today so it is not the best day to scan.

That's quite impressive EB, your proximity helps as you're located closer to the main footprint for that sat but up here I'm lucky to scan in more then 2 tp.

Location does make a difference. I think you have an advantage out over the Atlantic.

The Raptor is finding transponders with low symbol rates. I saw one with a SR of 999, and a few more below 1500.

How long does it take to scan a sat. The Cative works also does the two step blind scan but it is excruciatingly slow

el bandido
02-22-2012, 07:09 PM
Scan time depends on where the satellite is, and how much information it has. If the satellite is empty and located in a quiet part of the arc, then the scan is over quickly. If the satellite is in a noisy part of the arc where other satellites are transmitting lots of information close by, the scan speed slows way down.
With that said, I have not bothered to time the Raptor yet, but my guess is most of the scans have been between 3 and 8 minutes. I will time some of the scans when I move the Raptor receiver to the c band system.

Can you try to scan 99w Cband and see if it gets the 1562 SR mexican networks? I have an excellent signal on that bird and I cannot get them all to scan in with the S9 or anything else for that matter.

el bandido
02-23-2012, 06:54 PM
I will scan 99W and the other c band satellites with the Raptor but it will not be tonight. When I get a new receiver, I check it out on ku first. This gives me a chance to get familiar with the receiver and fix it so it can be operated by other people that only want to watch tv. With that said, I will get it on c band ASAP. EB

An early congratulations on the 75!

I don't remember if youtube was an addon or part of the firmware listed under freetv+. If it was an addon, I can't find it. If it was part of the firmware, then just reloading it should bring it back when you select freetv+.

It's been a while since I used mine, but if it's not under menu > media> Free tv+ than you will have to reload the addon. Use a formatted, blank usb stick and load the attached addon after unzipping it.

Copy the Freetvplus to the root of usb stick, insert and reboot. Then just follow instructions on the display.

Thank you eastof111. I followed your instructions, the receiver didn't see the downloaded file from on the USB stick. I believe there must be something wrong with my receiver.
I also tried to download v2.11.65, which didn't work either.
Thanks very much for trying to help me.

You might try a different usb stick, sometimes the receiver may work with another name brand.

El bandido I tried reloading the entire firmware -- that didn't work either. Ever since I changed my receiver to Ice Crypt v.2.11.49 my receiver will not accept anything from the USB stick. Thinking about changing back to Raptor firmware, is that possible, if that is possible could you please send me the files on how to do it. I hate to do it, because I like to be able to name the satellites in numbers.

jdelanos73
11-08-2015, 01:33 PM
Has Raptor come up with a firmware with all satellite numbers in them? this is what I have now -- but there are no numbers to program into my motor that will mess up my other receivers. Thanks in advance. 12543

Sublime
11-14-2015, 04:58 AM
Only Icecrypt firmware will do what you want. The latest firmware (2.12.18) for other receiver versions only addresses youtube access. If all you use the receiver for is satellite viewing, the latest Icecrypt firmware you can find will do the job, as newer firmware for other versions of the receiver do nothing to improve satellite reception.

Edit: Didn't realize Icecrypt had the newest version on their site. Uploaded here ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).

Have an interesting issue...my number 2 tuner ( both are dvb s2) has something wrong with it. It puts out power, blindscans in tps, but has no stream.....no channels play or scan in. Everything works fine with tuner one...have moved tuner 2 to tuner 1 slot and no difference....again voltage and diseqc commands are perfect...just no ts stream. Any suggestions are welcome. I have looked at tuner and doesn't appear to be damaged. Same issue with original and e2 firmware...Thanks in advance!

eastof111

Logically you seem to have tried to eliminate errors. If tuner one works in slot two, it would seem to indicate that the slot is ok. If tuner two does not work in slot one, it would seem that the tuner module may be the culprit. Just for the heck off it, have you tried back loading an older image to see if you still have the same problem? Or, even another brand of image?

Worst case, if you need another tuner:
