I think a fta receiver is a fta receiver when it comes to setup and basic operations.
Yes, enigma2 has more features and options, and some images have more features than others. A good rule to follow is: Do Not Change any setting if you do not understand what it is. Seems there is a menu or a setting for about everything in an enigma2 receiver. But most settings are preset enough to at least run and produce a picture.
The user needs to input a basic antenna setup, which is similar to any other fta receiver, and the correct video settings for your tv. Then a scan can be done for channels. Let us know if you need help setting it up.

Thanks! Your post makes me a little less scared, LOL. I've been in satellite for many years (1984 I installed my first 6ft spun aluminum C-band dish, with hand-cranked threaded rod polar mount) BUT, my main thrust is to just "watch interesting tv". I'm now at the age where smartphones and such are starting to intimidate me a bit. Or I guess a better way of putting it is: my BRAIN is convinced they are "hard to learn", and it has to be trained to submit. I've always been very good at figuring things out though. I'm sure I'll be fine, and basically all I really care for as must haves: I want one with a SOLID perfect clock, dvr ability, it MUST have file-marking tags (such as when you have to leave a recording you can tag that spot, and when you come back you can JUMP right to that point with a button push) also 30 second skip either way, also an EPG for sat channels that don't have one would be nice, maybe able to pull from TitanTv's internet guide somehow? EPG like that isn't a must if not possible, as I have one built for the channels I watch via TitanTv, and can just look online. Multiple tuners is the gravy, but probably future, especially if they are very pricey.

At present I have two SatAv MicroHD's, an Amiko Mini h265, an Amiko A3, and a Freesat V7S in the drawer for the channels on 101W when they start stuttering again. My dishes up and running at present are a 1m KU fixed at 30w, and a 7.5ft SAMI dish for C-band. Located in Mid-Michigan.

Do you have any issues during blindscan? Mine crashes on any sat besides 103W...I have no idea what I'm looking at in the crash logs -

I look for the lines in the crash file that show the cause of the problem or why it crashed first. The rest of what is logged in the crash file could be considered supporting information, or what state the receiver was in when it crashed. For yours, See Here:
    |
    13:59:30.0939 { D } File "/usr/lib64/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/Blindscan/plugin.py", line 1262, in blindscanSessionClose
    13:59:30.0942 { D } KeyError: 0
Most likely, there was a bad commit to the blindscan plugin. We can look at line 1262 in the plugin.pyo file located inside the blindscan plugin folder, and maybe see the problem. If it was a bad commit, then the problem will likely fix itself in the next update or two.

No.No issue so far here Rayydio. Time I got through customizing the menues, picons put the GlamourAura skin on from the feeds, I'm suprised I didn't muck something up but no everything is good. Now I need to make a new backup before I do any more updating.

If it keeps crashing, download and unzip the attached plugin.py file. Then install the file into the Blindscan folder located at: /usr/lib64/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/Blindscan
Reboot the box, then blindscan. If it crashes again after installing this file, then post the crash log.

I doubt you have any trouble installing the MIO into your antenna system. Satellite EPG could be done, but someone will need to spend a lot of time setting it up and maintaining it. You may want to look at the information in the link. Pretty much, everything you need to know for basic setup is available at the wiki website in the link.
