Preparing to sell my receiver. I deleted all my images and loaded OpenPLi and TNAP into empty slots. However, I've noticed that the slots say "empty with backup." Where are these backups located so I can deleted them?

Savvy with FTP but not telnet.

You can download this recovery image. It will flash openatv 6.4 and delete slots 2,3 and 4.
It is emmc flash so has to be unzipped onto a flash drive.

If you want to flash tnap 3.2 back in slot 1 flash the usb version emmc flash.

Thanks. What's the procedure for USB flash? I've always done it from within OpenPLi.

Does this also wipe out any stored backup files in the image slots?

What stored backup files are you talking about?
Why all the concern about wiping the information from the receiver?
Nothing of real importance should be on the receiver unless you logged in to internet sites (iptv or other) with passwords that were stored in the receiver. Your credit card number or other personal banking information should not be in the receiver unless you were using a web browser that required your personal information to be entered.

Anyway, loading the suggested emmc OpenATV image image into the receiver should fix your concerns. There will not be much of anything left after that in any slot unless the FBI or someone else with good tools gets it.

When viewing the contents of image slots from OpenPLi's image menu, I see several that say "Empty with backup." I guess I don't know what information is stored in that backup, but when I load an image into one of those slots, I get the message "Auto restore settings?" when the wizard starts.

I never used the receiver to log into anything, I'd just prefer to give the new owner a "clean" experience.

That is just the flash the image screen. you can choose to flash the slot with backup settings of current image or go on down and the same slot without backup settings. The slot is empty.

Settings are stored in the designated hard drive or usb drive. Settings or backups are not normally stored in the receiver. Carefully check the usb drive that you use to load the image. Most likely, you will find the stored settings on that usb and the receiver "sees" those settings when the usb drive is inserted into the receiver. Settings stored on the usb drive would explain the "Auto restore settings" message.
