Picked up a Viewsat Maxhd and am not able to get anything out of the blindscan. I have the original tuner. Does anyone have one of these receivers with a working blindscan? It has frequency step settings but I can't get anything out of it. I have a good signal.

IMO, you wasted your money. Viewsat was made for one reason and it was not fta. I wish you the best of luck with that receiver.
On a positive note, it might open a few of in the clear DN channels. I cannot remember if it does 8psk turbo or not. EB

Ya it was like 45 bux and it gets the occasional freebies up there. It gets the hd ones too. Blind scan doesn't seem to work however.

45 Dollars will get you the freebies. They should be worth that.
I never owned a Viewsat Max. But I remember other people complaining about the blind scan and how the receiver did not work good for fta.

This box has Tetris and Sudoku in the menu. Some other game too. That makes up for the inop blind scan I guess.

I had a couple of vs receivers back in the day. The ultra was quite good on fta but not up to par with a pansat or coolsat receiver. For $45 I guesss it's all right for the freebies and whatever else you can scan in with it.

Well I ran the blind scan on 125w last nite and it found everything that the box can display. I didn't trust it so I deleted all of the transponders beforehand. It is very slow however.
