Yes, the SES channels can be problematic. The alternating resolution and hesitation don't bother me. I do have an intermittent video stutter problem though that can be annoying, but that's a problem that just started a few months ago and effects my older receiver as well. I've just about pulled my hair out trying to figure it out and the only thing I can figure out is that it must be some kind of local interference.

I've noticed this too. I think what's happening is the video pops up and then is waiting for the audio to catch up. The audio is playing while the video is frozen, then the video starts and the video and audio are in sinc. Of course this is just a guess? So, I think the answer to your question is YES, it is normal.....
