8 Ft Mesh Install

My wife and I decided to put up one the three 8 ft mesh BUDs I had laying around the farm. I can scan from 139.0W to 72.0W, (I can probably get down to 40-50 degree range but the DSR920 I was using to move the dish only has 21 sat tiles). I still have to complete the wiring, just used temporary wires with receiver and tv out at the dish.
I have included a couple pics.

Very nice! I like how you say "My wife and I". It's great to have a spouse interested in our hobbies. My wife puts up with my FTA addiction as well.

My wife also puts up with it and says there are worse things someone could be doing; as long as her channels are up I'm the boss outdoors. I have to agree with Viper, keep us up to date- Don't you hail from California?

No Costactc, I am from Conehatta, Mississippi.

Don't mean to be prying I just thought I recognized the name from a couple of other sites. I like your setup, I'd like to know how those 8' dishes perform on some of the tougher dvb-s2 tp.

Yeah I frequent most all of the fta forums. I have had very good results with this particular 8 ft. I get all the RTV channels on AMC-7 @ 137.0W and SES-2 @ 87.0W. All dvb S2 on 105.0W come in very well. If there is any channel in particular you want to know about, just let me know and I will check it out.

Thanks mengram. Actually the tp on Simon Bolivar at 78w always seems to give me quality issues, I'm not sure if it's a dish alignment or maybe my lnbf needs a bit of skewing. It scans in on my openbox-skybox receivers better then my azbox and I know that those receivers tuner sensitivity is worse then my azbox:

3885 V 23000

It is funny how much variation there is in the signal quality on these receivers. All three are hooked to the same lnb on the same dish.

Thanks mengram, much appreciated. Thought my bud was sound but seems I need to do a bit of tweaking. Just curious, what dish were you using for that tp?

That was the 8 ft, the signal on the Raptor is about 43% on the 8 ft dish. The signal is about 74% on the Raptor using the 10 ft Channel Master.

Too hot today but I think I'll do some skewing this weekend on my 10' channel master as all my time this Spring was spent on the 8' solid. Thanks for all the info and pics mengram.

I decided to give Simon Bolivar another shot today and came up with about 46% signal quality on my skybox F3, no signal on my azbox ultra and 79% signal quality on my optibox anaconda. Since there is a bit of breakup my lnbf will have to be skewed when I find the time. This also leads me to believe that the anaconda is the receiver that has the finest tuner sensitivity of all receivers I have ever tested, some pics:

Finished burying the wires for the 8 ft mesh today, dug all with a pair of posthole diggers. Temp today was 101 and the heat index was between 105-110, did'nt know if I was gonna make but I "got er done."

I had a Panorama quad C-band on the dish to begin with but was not impressed with it's performance. I changed it out for a WS International ESX 244 quad C-band with a Gain of 70 db and Noise Figure of 13K. I have always liked WS International products because they come with a 2 year warranty.
