Went out to the boonies today with my three GS's. For some reason I decided to stop and park in a wash along the road. I took my Gs's for a walk in the wash. No more than 500 feet from where I parked, one of the Gs's sniffed out a silver fox in a cage that was camouflaged with branches. I took the doggies back to the suv and called the park rangers phone but being Sunday the feds were closed until Tuesday.
So, I grabbed my camera and headed back to the cage. There were no markings on the cage as to who owned it plus it was pretty beat up and rusty. Since the fox didn't seem rabid, I used a long branch to prop up the cage door and left it open for him to leave.
I can see hunting for food out here, but a cage? That's a pretty sad excuse for hunting. I sure hope I screwed up someone's day.
