So we bought a 55" inch LG 4K smart TV a little over a year ago that comes with a one year warranty and as my luck would have it after 14 months the TV would start up and shut down a minute later and get stuck on the LG boot screen, after trying the power button reset that didn't work I came across some tube videos about baking the motherboard in the oven at 385 for 10 minutes, Everyone I watched the TV came back to life.

So since I have nothing to lose I'm going to give it a try this morning..I'll update later and let you know if it works for me.

I don't think this is a good idea, as most IC's on the board won't like being in an oven at that temp for that long.

Most surface mount IC's are done with either hot air or IR soldering, and done very quickly, also the solder paste used helps hold the IC in place during this processes.

Here is some info on hot air soldering.

I would not try to bake it, it may damage it beyond repair,(don't believe everything you see on youtube) but instead take a look on Ebay for replacement PCB's for your model TV. (exact replacement boards should be used, go by part number of the PCB)

The TV will now stay on, I forgot to mention it was lightning and a power surge that brought it on. MY OS mini also took the surge and no inputs detected.

But none of the inputs will work, no HDMI, ethernet, USB..Antenna will but freezes and shuts off after 30 seconds.

Sooooo I found a used one in Florida for 39.99 and ordered that..I'll follow up when it gets here.

OK, lightning....Not good for most electronic stuff...

The best idea would be to get a good USP system to protect it, one from Tripplight would have attached equipment insurance, anything that gets through it will get you new stuff. (after you register it)

So the main board from Florida never was shipped after 6 days so I cancelled the order and got a refund with no problems.
Worked out for the best since I found a new part in California, came from a new in the box TV with a cracked screen, and he accepted the 17 dollar offer I put in.

It arrived yesterday after a delay because of our Canada post rotating strike.:midfinger:

This took about 30 minutes for the 17 dollar part install. much better than the $275 that LG offered to fix it for. :fokyou:

I had problems with an HDTV dealer/repair shop in Miami Florida, I can't remember the name of it now, but he said that the boards I shipped to him didn't work, but in my flebay add the boards were clearly marked as used but tested and working, he filed a case with flebayl and they sided with him, as palaypal was part of flebay they gave him his money back. I quit doing business with flebay after that.

My suspicions were that he put the good working boards in the TV's that he was working on, and put the bad ones back in the box that was returned to me,or due to mishandling the boards he static shocked them, I re-tested the boards and they did not work, after that I started marking the boards in a special place, with a special UV ink and symbol so I can't get scammed like that again.

I got out of the used HDTV components business a few years after that.
