In the past, I've used these lnbfs mounted as side cars on my bud and have to say that they performed very well without any modifications even though they were designed for offset dishes.

Here's a modification guide I found that claims a 15 to 20 point gain with the mods described. Although it is in Spanish, it is easy to follow the enclosed pictures of the modifications made. Thanks go out to the author.

Good Information! Those with tools will appreciate it!

A 15-20 Percent increase in satellite signal strength is considered typical when matching a feed horn for an offset or prime focus dish. IMO, it is a lot easier to buy the parts instead of trying to make them unless you have the stock, the tools, and the time needed to make these parts.
Where the feedhorn is placed on the waveguide or tube is pretty critical. Invacom makes a prime focus ku feedhorn that is adjustable, and I have enjoyed its performance.
