If you plan on keeping Windows 7 or 8 for a while and want to keep Windows from bugging you with Windows 10 updates, here's how:

In case youÂ’re perfectly happy with you current Windows setup and donÂ’t want a hulking folder with several gigabytes worth of files taking up room on your computer:

Search “Programs and Features” in the Start menu
Switch to “view installed updates” on the left side of the window
If youÂ’re on Windows 7, locate the following updates: 3035583, 2952664, 3021917
If youÂ’re on Windows 8, locate the following updates: 3035583, 2976978
Right click each update and select “Uninstall”
Select “Restart Later” when the prompt appears
Restart your computer

Once thatÂ’s done, you need to stop Windows from attempting to download the updates again in the future:

Search “Windows Update” in the Start menu
Select “Check for Updates” and you should see the updates listed above
Click on “Important Update is Available”
Right click each of the updates from above and choose “Hide Update”

All done!
