Dual tuner receivers

I have seen a few dual tuner receivers out and was not sure what the point of having dual tuners is on one tv. I can see maybe you can record more but if there is only one TV most people watch one channel at a time. Is it for split screen mode? I used to have a Dish Network Sub with a 722 receiver and it was setup to have a loop out to another room and it had a separate remote for it. Is it a similar idea with these dual tuner models?

One advantage apart from recording is controlling two dishes with one receiver..KU in tuner one C-band in tuner two or vise versa.

IMO, 2 tuner receivers are best for multiple dish systems. You can run a large dish farm on one tuner, but it is easier with two tuners. I would not recommend a 2 tuner receiver to somebody that has a single dish system unless there were some unique needs for pvr or other features.
PVR has more capabilities with 2 tuners if you have c and ku bands. You may assign one band to each tuner and record on one band while watching any satellite on the other band, providing both bands are not on the same dish. Even if both bands are on the same dish, you will still have more flexibility with the PVR than you will with a one tuner receiver.
PIP capabilities are also enhanced with two tuners.

Sometimes it is better to have two separate receivers than one receiver with 2 tuners. It all boils down to what you want to do and what your antenna system is capable of doing. EB

Does each tuner have separate diseqc memory settings so I could run an sg2100 ku on one and maybe a vbox for a cband dish on the other?

I use a KU 39" with a stab hh90 and a 7.5 perfect 10 with the v-box on both the Triplex and Raptor..The Triplex has bugs reverting tuners that you have set..The Raptor performs very well and does not have that bug.

I normally keep them separate for testing purposes.. If I did not have to do this I would be keeping the Raptor hooked up to both KU and C-Band..certain TP's like 107w C-band you can record 3 programs while watching a third just on that bird alone. Nothing like having your channel list in one box and with a push of a button your going back and forth from C to KU.

Also with an internal hard drive installed your recordings a breeze not to mention you can have Enigma 2 running in a snap to open up a new world.

Install a plugin on the Raptor and you can easily change the ID of the box to try out all sorts of different firmware from other boxes.

This is why the Raptor can never be compared to 50 dollar ali boxes...Not that they don't do the job to watch TV, they just are not capable of the many other features and tricks...The old saying holds true..You get what you pay for.

I'm sure EB will remind me of all the other stuff I missed on what the Raptor can do....lol
