Well, we can all listen to the weatherman and to environment Canada, or the US Weather Service to tell us what is happening, but I prefer to listen to animals and nature. As of 10:00am today the first flock of Canada Geese arrived here in the Ottawa Valley. Just got a text from my son and he is about 15 minutes SE of Ottawa. This is early!!!! Right now it is sunny, extremely windy out of the SW and 7C
 
An elderly couple from Nova Scotia reported seeing a couple of robins in their yard a few weeks ago. We always go by animals and insects in Newfoundland as most forecast are nowhere near accurate. My grandmother would judge how much snow we would get by watching how high the spiders make their nest, you can tell when spring is not far off by watching when the cats and dogs go into heat.
 
I usually go by beer, if I have to bring my beer inside to the fridge to keep it cool I know the nice weather is on the way...:brew:
 
We,,I will be keeping the beer inside for a few days as the temp is currently -9, dropping through the afternoon to -12 and then to -18 overnight with a high of only -8 tomorrow. I'm not into beersicles.

I agree with nature and beer!

Animals survive by knowing. Bears go into hibernation and others die.

I am a big fan of leave the beer cooler in the yard and when it snows...fill it with snow and take it in the house and CRAM it full of brew!
 
No kidding...I got missed my that Joplin Mo tornado by not much (5 miles). My son was within 1/2 mile. He is next to the TV station KSNF that took the video from its tower cam. Youtube it.

And I know many people that died in it and SOB we have them already!

Branson...shit fire man! I told my wife...Of like 568 businesses that were destroyed in Joplin something like 430 was rebuilt!

WATCH it get hit again. Weather here goes through cycles (like everywhere). I remember a serious ice storm in 71, and about 2006 I think...I remember tornados in 73 and near by over the years.

NOT a direct hit F5 like May 22, 2011 though.

It was serious shit! You can see from walmart (gone) to St Johns Hospital (gone) which is several miles through the middle of Joplin.

I live in a large natural stone, not brick house. It has a basement that has real 2 inch thick redwood 2x4's as a ceiling (the floor upstairs) and solid rock walls over a foot thick and if I die it is my dam time to go.

But I would have jack shit left! I guess I should be thankful to be alive. If you have never seen one...well...

People on the news tonight were talking about mosquitoes and I seen a fly.

The government will tell you it is global warming. I say look at history. We know the earth goes through cycles. I am not saying man is helping...just that we don't fully understand.

Like the food chain. Kill all the insects and little animals and snakes that bother you. Good idea. Those creatures keep others in check that are worse! Do you want a snake in the field or a mouse in your house?

Nature has a balance and I'm sure mankind has tipped the scales. In whose favor I do not know.

I've heard during the cold war scare that a nuclear war would kill most people but the roaches would survive.

Anyway, it is about time to take the beer cooler back outside so it can be close to the car for fresh beer & ice.
 
Mildest winter, here, in years with almost no real weather activity to speak of. We will get some, I am sure, as Mother nature has a way of keeping man on his toes. I agree about the earth going through climate change cycles. It has been doing this since the beginning of time and will continue to do so. We aren't likely helping things but I doubt that man is having a whole lot of influence on this planet other than by destroying natures balance and much of that is done through the use of chemicals that the "Green" industry never mentions, such as those designed to kill all insects that might harm crops. Combine that with the wanton strip cutting of forests. I fear we will pay for those actions, in spades.
