general instrument 2730r

I haven't used that one but I would try a decent universal remote to work with it. If it has a VC module in it I would remove it so it doesn't leak all over the inside of it.

Thank you ,module is out and I have some universal remote and can power on and off change channel but menu not working so how I can add satellite to this receiver any place to download manual for gi 2730 is old receiver and on google I can't find any info.Thank you

That's going to be a tough one to find. I would try an older universal remote and try as many as you can find. I don't think I have any GI receivers aside from the 4DTV receivers that superceded the older ones. The only older analog/vc2 receiver I have programmed had about 12 satellite positions where you just modified the positions that you had. Your receiver should certainly be workable as a dish mover.

If you can find a 4dtv universal remote, that may work for your receiver. I will post the codes for that in the 4dtv section. Look at the receiver and see if there is a connection for a UHF remote module. If there is, it may be very similar to the 4dtv remote with has infrared function, plus UHF so you don't have to point it at the receiver.

anybody know what is password for menu option on this receiver (have harmony remote control and when I press menu on remote have option 1,2,3,4,5,6 and under option 5 is installation but when I press number 5 need password,so far try 0000 and 92121 but wont open installation menu.

Look for an old remote for the "Voom" service receiver. Alternatively, Shaw Direct (formerly Star Choice) in Canada, is still pretty much only using Motorola/General Instrument receivers and the remotes are interoperable with 4DTV receivers. At least mine are.
