getting back on(lilla)

i used to run a 2000 extreme but after the system fell on a new encryption i dropped and have been aways for quite some time , i need a new dish for true fta and a new receiver and i would like some suggestinos on the better ones avialable, thanks

hello lilla the fta you have now would get you true fta the viewsat i guess? pretty much all of those fta units can work with true fta as long as it can blind scan stuff.... and you need at least a 31inch dish and a linear lnb...

the 18 and 22 24 inch dish is to small and the other type of lnb used in the older days of grey area tv were called circular (dn direct tv bev )

now the unit you have now is only for non hd stuff and there is a lot of hd feeds and stuff to see like nbc on 103w has hd feeds 87w and pretty much many sats we aim at have both sd and hd to see

there are units you can buy that are much better than the unit you have now better for blind scaning and also have hd 1080 264 stuff

instead of asking you how much you want to spend like ill put it to you this way

i have ssen fta unts with sd and hd sell for around 80 dollars to around 300 this site here has some great fta boxs for sale for around 200 i guess is around the lowest price they also might one day sell a fta unit called a alma 2200 maybe that should sell for around 100.00 dollars
id guess.

there is a line of fta boxs called open box that also went for around 80 to 100 i own one i paid 84.00 a year ago

but id stay away from the open box line even though it been a pretty good box for me the box was made on a monday and it has had issues with quality i had to replace a piece inside it that was made cheap was not hard to do and cost 3 dollars no biggie and now this same box i have is haviing issue with the hdmi working off and on....

and instead of fixing this box in new firmware from the manufacture the open box/skybox folks just kep coming out with new units that also suck! as in stay away from the open box s 16 there latest ripp off!

another box you might come across is a box called the mico and from reading about this box its not any better than an open box and they sell it for 140 ish and the main reason to not get a micro box is the folks who made this box were cheap they only want profit and tried to save money on it ....somtimes when we have these true fta boxs we have to add new firmware to it/ channel list by usb and if while loading you new firmware to even addin g back your own udf file (channel list back to it the box messed up which is fixable by using you own computer and a 232 cord hooked up to the box i bet your extreme has the 232 port what the cheap dude did with his supposed great box called the micro was to make it with out the 232 on the back so if you box hiccup wrong you cant fix it and have to send it back to them ! i say bullshit to the micro box for this main reason....... since i have owned my open box i have had to use my 232 port over 5 times and the alma box i was talking about i also have now im testing it out for someone here and this box also does have the 232 port and i also have used it to fix stuff........( i had to taech my self how to work the alma and adding firmware wrong was the reason but it has a 232 port to hook and i fixed it)

im sure other folks here will chime in and give advice in the mean time to start go get you at least a 31 inch dish(36 is better) and a linear lnb with this you can at least use the extrem till you see what you want! good luck

now dish size 31 is min but the bigger you go the better you have at getting more stuff i use 2 1.2m dishes and one 36 inch dish i also have 17 lnb all hooked up with switches and all
