Is your local Timmy's missing from Google Maps? Now you can fix that with the search engine's Map Maker, which is available in Canada as of Monday.
Following the Wikipedia model, anyone can sign in and add roads, lakes, parks, hiking trails and other points of interest, and correct or update existing entries on Google Maps and Google Earth.

"By sharing information about the places you know, like businesses in your town or places on your school campus, you can ensure the map accurately reflects the world around you," Google says of the Map Maker tool (find it at Google.ca/mapmaker).
Changes are reviewed by staff at the search engine and by fellow users before being approved.

Map Maker is available in 187 countries, including the U.S. Earlier this month, Google announced on its LatLong blog that Google Earth has been downloaded more than one billion times since its introduction in 2005.

That's pretty cool, I like google maps, another way of going on a trip without ever leaving the farm. Now when I search where some of my family and friends live maybe there will be more to see.
