Hey Fellas, Valentines Day is coming soon

Yes sir, Valentines Day is coming this next Tuesday. Four more days. My lovely wife of 9 years has been sullen lately,
so I have been doing some research and extra work for the last two months. I have a lovely restaurant all reserved and just
this morning I took possession of the gift I bought my wife. It finally came in. She is going to be so tickled. Guys, don't tell
anyone because I don't want my wife to find out ahead of time and the secret spoiled; it's a diamond necklace! I'm thinking
of taking her to the restaurant and surprising her with it during dessert. I am getting excited! Anyhow, this is it.

Or, should I do it differently?

Well, Valentines Day didn't work out to well. I met her to an eatery out on "The Avenue" on "that" day, trying to make small talk during the meal. The key-word being, 'trying'. She was quiet the whole time.
During dessert I was just starting to reach into my jacket pocket to bring out the gift I bought for her when she softly said, "It's over."
"Huh?"
"It's over, I don't love you anymore... We need to separate for awhile... I've found a 2 bedroom condo in <the next town over>... and I'm taking <our 5 year old daughter's name> with me."
And she got up and walked out.
I must have sat there stunned for an hour.
I had an appointment with a client to do some networking admin and that didn't go to well either. Took the rest of the day into the evening to get it all set up and working securely and by the time I got home that night, the house was quiet. Her and my daughters stuff was gone. And they were too. She must have had the movers in while we were eating.
I'm going to be taking some time off, get my head screwed on straight and contemplate just what is going on.

I've tried writing this reply 100 times without laying into her, lambasting her to no end but I've realized it's not her, it's me.

I'll see you good people around some time,
