Is my Amplicon a waste of time?

About 20 years ago, the wires to my LNB broke loose, and I haven't repaired them, yet. I've forgotten what it is sitting on the 10' fiberglass dish. My old receiver is tucked away so far, I can't hardly see it, let alone get any info off of it. I am pretty sure it is an Amplicon.

Would I be wasting my time hooking it all back up, or opt for newer receiver?

Please toss my hat into the running for the HD receiver contest.

I'd rewire the dish if Modern Marvel is available on History Channel. Comcast has reduced our channels down to the point where we watch HD channels off the rooftop antenna.

Hello and welcome to Legit. You need to post in the thread that Lee provided if you want in the receiver contest.
Your old receiver may be useful for moving the dish but that would be about it. You might want to get it out and see if it will work as far as moving the dish.
The lnb should be replaced with something more modern and you would need a HD fta receiver to enjoy the HD channels that are available on C band.
The History Channel is available on the KU band, and it does show "Modern Marvels" More info Here: http://www.legitfta.com/forum/showthread.php?p=10172#post10172
