Jugnu, the satellite being developed by IIT-Kanpur, will be launched from Srihari Kota in June. IIT-K director SG Dhande said that ISRO officials, who came to the institute a month back, had evaluated the model of Jugnu and approved it.

"The flight model of the satellite is presently being assembled in Bangalore. The testing of the flight model of the satellite at chip, board and the system level has been done successfully. Thus, we are inching close to its launch in June this year," said Dhande.

The ejection mechanism has been developed by the students of IIT-Kanpur in the institute. The ISRO officials have evaluated and approved the ejection mechanism.

Dhande said that the tracking station at IIT-Kanpur is ready.

"It is a project by the students. They have sacrified their jobs and stayed back at the institute for developing the nano-satellite. Once the project comes to an end, the institute will look forward for more such challenging projects involving students," Dhande added.
