Ku Band on my 7 1/2' Super Ten

easily confused

Ok, some of you may be aware that I have had very little success getting Ku band reception on my 7 1/2' Super Ten mesh dish C band is great but no Ku. Following a psot from Costa, yesterday, about a new channel on Satmex6 at 113 I started messing around. Nothing, zip, nada!! Ah, not so fast. C band uses 22Khz switch off and Ku uses it on, right? Maybe yes, maybe no. When I was getting a hint of anything, I turned the 22Khz off again and low and behold, I am getting Ku band transponders and a bunch of channels scan in. I then go to 91W and scan in Ku band BUT, I had to turn the 22Khz on. SES1 at 101W required that I turned the 22Khz off. Has anyone got any explanation as to why this would be happening. In the meantime, I will continue to see how far I can go!!

I don't know..but as you know we are both in the same position with the same setup..going to try what you have described here and see my results..

I wish I could help you EC but I've never used 22khz ever before, my coax come straight into the house. By the way, Galaxy 17 at 91w doesn't normally have any permanent channels only feeds.

Somehow this just made sense because I also have two coax cables coming in from the BSC-621. The ribbon cable is just multiple coax cables so that might explain why I have never seen Ku. I have always turned on the 22Khz switch because that is what I had to do with the 39" dish. Now you know the rest of the story as to why I call myself "easily confused"

And must be the reason I get diddly squat..Me thinks the internal switch just ain't working for me.

Ok, after messing around I have come to the conclusion that both me and my system are easily confused. I have 125, 123, 113, 101 and 91 in Ku. Nothing on 83 or 58. Still have lots to sats try but here is the kicker, some sats require 22 Khz switch on and some require it off. Doesn't seem to make sense to me, but who am I to question the fact that I am now receiving Ku band at around 65 to 70%Q. Stronger than a lot of what I was getting on the 39".
