Microsoft Outlook floodine with spam

"Microsoft Outlook flooded with spam due to broken email filters.
According to reports from an increasing number of Microsoft customers, Outlook inboxes have been flooded with spam emails over the last nine hours because email spam filters are currently broken."

I can confirm that it is broken for me... getting clobbered here since last night. Awful today.

It seems Outlook has made some corrections, at least for my account. All spam back in the spam folder this afternoon.

I'd hate to deal with that mess all the time.

I wish there was an option to NEVER see certain emails again. Filtering out Viagra, Luma, Norton, Mcafee, and a few 'newsletters' would go a loooong way.

Every three or four days I block about 500 emails in the junk folder and then delete them from the deleted items folder. But they just keep returning under another alias.

Tried using MailwasherPRO which allows you to setup block filters similar to *@alias.com or *@*alias.com or *@alias*.com etc.,
along with a friends list, black list, profanity list, which helps a bit.

If you block them then they know it is a real email addy and hammer you from other addresses. Same way if you click on 'unsubscribe'. I learnt that the hard way. Only the legitimate companies care when you wish to unsubscribe.

There should be a way to stop the email spam.... and mail spam as well.

I'm still running MS Office Outlook 2007 on my Win 11 install. It took a bit to convince MS to authorize my product key though. ;) Though MS doesn't tell you there are still recent outlook installs available.

I use Hotmail for all my junk mail, which is why I receive so much garbage there. For legitimate accounts, I use my internet provider's in-house mail client which provides their own spam mail firewall. For the last ten years, spam there has been nil.
