Misbehavior receiving some channels...

Hi.
Every night, at around ~21:30, channels on Galaxy 16C 3813 H 8029 start breaking intermittently. Signal quality stays decent around 50% as during the day, but the bit error rate starts showing intermittence and degrade in the following hours until coming back solid by early morning. Other Galaxy 16C channels are received fine at all times.
Checked LNB alignment, BUD aiming and all shows set to optimal. Any clues what can be the cause and a fix ?
 
Hi, that is a tougher transponder to get on that bird. I have a fluctuating quality level from like 50-60% right now and I have a 10' Winegard dish. I could probably peak my dish and get more out of it but I have nearly full quality on some of the others. If you cannot peak your dish anymore I am thinking you may need a slightly larger dish depending on your location. Have you tried adjusting the skew and depth?
 
Just as an example, I've noticed this more so with ku band and small fixed dishes lately on older sats. Namely, using DTV slimline size dishes, which are much more sensitive to this condition than C band. Most of these sats are getting old and the providers are compensating for the deterioration by lowering the transponder power when necessary. Since the earth stations have larger dishes, they can compensate for the lower signals transmitted.

Also, consider that the sats move during a 24 hour period. For instance, picture a sat within a 50x50x50 mile virtual box. When the sat is in the center of the box, your signal will be exceptional, because it is at the optimal sustained orbital position. As it creeps away from the center of the box, your signal will suffer. Should you be using a marginal dish for your location you will notice the signal fluctuation. The signal will improve as the sat is moved back to it's original position within the box.

Throw in the age of your lnb, coax, connectors, cable length, switches, number of concatenated switches, atmospheric conditions, location and it will add to the reception problem. Plus, stations moving to 8psk adds an additional challenge when using a smaller or inadequately sized dish for a particular location.

Doesn't hurt to play Sherlock and start from scratch. In my case, I know I will eventually have to upgrade my ku dishes.
 
That tp is at a 14.7 db level for me on my Technomate receiver and 14.4 db on my Vu+Solo 2. Therefore absolutely no issue for me at all. Where are you located?
