Well, I finally did it!! Took the plunge, made the call and about an hour ago, the Bell Canada tech left the property and I no lonnger have a Bell phone. I had a dry loop installed for my DSL and will be using cell phones and my new Magic Jack Plus once it arrives. Bell was costing me $44.95 a month and that was for local calls only. My old ISP was $56.49 a month for 3Mbps download and 1Mbps upload. I now pay a total of $36.95 a month, paid one year at a time in advance, for 6Mbps download and 800Kbps upload and dry loop. Add $29.95 a year for Magic Jack and I have about $60 a month left for the essentials (read that as beer!!). Before leaving the tech checked my internet speed and said I am getting 5.5Mbps down and 800 up. Mush faster speeds and saving $720 a year. That feels good!!
 
Good job EC, I kicked bell out of my house a couple of years ago and have no regrets. They will call you at least 2 times a month with offers.

He, he, it will be interesting to see that unless they can pull my cell # from Telus or my new number from Magic Jack and the only way I would go back is if they can better the deal with MJ and that is free calling anywhere in NA anytime for $29.95 a year. The tech that installed the dry loop was more than interested in my BUD and was complaining about the cost of Bell TV even with his employee discount. Told him that I cut that cord 5 or 6 years ago, Bell Cellular around 8 years ago and now Bell home phone, although I must admit it is not a total cut as Bell gets the $96 a year that I pay for the dry loop but that is much netter, for me than the $540 I was paying up until today. Not bad, I save $444 just on local telephone calling plus the long distance package we had at 2.5 cents a minute which usually amounted to $25 or $30 a month for another approx $300 and reduced my internet from $56.49 to $36.95 a month for an additional $234. Total savings of $968. I think I'll have a party next summer on all that free beer.
