This chip is found in the new Openbox X5 and several other off brand receivers. They all seem to have the same interface. Looks like android. The openbox X5 is listing the Sharp tuner. It would be nice to be able to test one of these out.
 
Scobuy just got these back up for sale. They raised the price to about 80 shipped. Looks like the best Openbox yet.
 
I see they added Google map, yahoo weather, youporn and Gmail, huh, sounds interesting! lets see who will be the first to order and submit some inputs!!
 
For what it is worth, Scobuy was a sponsor here, but they got the boot for poor service. Things may or may not have changed since our dealings with this company was several months ago.

The receiver itself may or may not be advertised correctly. Back when the Ali Openbox S9 was first introduced, some of the advertising from the Russian Openbox S9 was used. This advertising was very misleading and it caused some confusion. (Remember, the Russian Openbox S9 is the same as the Optibox Raptor.)

IMO, Eighty Dollars is not a lot of money to waste. Some of us pay that and more for a tank of gasoline. Just try to research before you buy. Research the receiver AND the seller! EB
 
Hi Dear,

Today, I have finished my first view of openbox x5 .

I will not go throughout the good things on this box now.

However, I will list some problems that I have faced during the test.

1- Device is somewhat slow (takes 4 second to display Channel list)

2- cccam & newcamd could not be loaded/update by Usb ( "Load Fail" message shown)

3- Channel Save DB could not be saved by Usb ( "Save Fail" message shown)

4- Youtube & gmail not fully work

5- Search (find ) channel has bug when press Caps (red button )

6- Some Arabic words on OSD are not correct or have intermittent Characters see picture




Even though I already have upgraded to the new FW 18/12/2012 sn-r423-p121112
