Proper lane etiquette: What drivers need to know

What's the safest lane on the highway? Despite merging traffic, it's the right lane, says Ian Law.

From the responses I have seen on Wheels.ca, there seem to be more opinions about correct lane usage than there are about Canadian politics.

Since most crashes and collisions on divided highways are caused by unintentional or imprudent lane changes. Better lane discipline would result in fewer lane changes and hence reduce crashes.

The following is a summary of acceptable lane etiquette that will make traffic flow smoother, faster and most importantly safer. Let
 
Something that this article doesn't address but should be stopped is all of the drivers that will pass a car that is driving in the middle lane on the right when the left lane is completely clear. Passing on the right is a dangerous place to pass and should be avoided when possible. People also need to get the hell out of the left hand lane if they aren't passing someone.
