Mexican satellite operator Satmex signed an agreement with US launcher ILS to set in the space its new satellite from Kazajastan's space base Baikonur.
However Satmex has some financial problems the company will be able to account for 350 million dollars to develop this project called Satmex 8.
The new satellite is under construction by Loral Space. The new satellite will replace the Satmex 5 which is near the end of its operational life.
On the other hand the Satmex 8 will have 15 operational years of life and has been designed to offer similar power levels to those of the Satmex 5 and 6 satellites. Also the new satellite will cover the whole of the US and the region from the Caribbean down to Argentina.
The launch of the new satellite is set for July 2012 on a Proton spaceship.
