SES-3 is a new hybrid C- and Ku-band satellite which will replace
AMC-1 at 103

If I read that correctly, then Viper, SES-3 should be in it's new orbital location at 103 in another 15.98 (16 days). Any idea how long after that the transition will take for the signals to start coming from SES-3?

No idea EC, I supposed as long as it takes them to do the testing, Looking forward adjusting my LNB back to normal, I found a happy medium on the KU side so I could received the HD NBC channels, but some of the other sats had lower signals, so will be nice to have everything boosted to top strength when the weather is bad, and maybe pick up a few extra TP's.

Now at 93.02

NORAD ID: 37748
Int'l Code: 2011-035A
Perigee: 35,856.5 km
Apogee: 35,861.5 km
Inclination: 0.0

That should put it at the 103 location by this time next week. Hopefully we will see the transition fairly soon after that. It will be interesting to see if some of the stations currently on weak tp's get any stronger, like some of the DVB S2's

Still Parked..wtf . They must be doing all the testing there.... otherwise this bird would have been in place and sending data to us.

I suspect you are right, Viper. Looks they will complete all testing at it's current locations and then, when ready, they will move it over to 103. I think that may be why the ION mux is showing up, from time to time on 72W. Hopefully they will make the transition fairly soon. I am hoping that some of the weaker tp's come in better once the transition is complete and that I don't lose them instead.

That's just downright mean, Viper. I see the word "Update" with all those exclamation marks and I am ready for some news. What do I get........nothing!! Now I have to go and have a beer. See what you did to me!!:brew::brew:

Well they are sure taking the time to test this bird, Launch date was July 15th..I check every day to see if it's moving yet and still parked, almost three months in now.

Maybe tomorrow...lol

Funny, I thought maybe they were about to do something, today. I turned on the TV for about 15 minutes around noon and AMC1 was a dead as a door nail. Nothing, zip, nada. Then when my wife turned the TV on at 6:00 tonight everything was back.
