Worldwide, the Company broadcasts more than 1200 HD channels on its fleet of 50 satellites and reaches 258 million TV households.

SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that satellite has become the leading TV infrastructure in Europe, ahead of terrestrial and cable reception. Approximately 84 million European households have satellite (Direct-to-Home, DTH) as their primary TV reception mode, an increase of 22 percent over the last four years. In the same period, terrestrial TV lost nearly 16 million homes, while cable lost over 2 million. IPTV

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the costs are , in Europe, for comparable satellite packages? Here, for example, providers advertise 250 channels but included in that are a mess of radio stations. Damn, man, that's why I have a radio. I don't watch TV on my radio and don't expect to pay for radio on my TV. Here, we can expect to get half a dozen CBC channels when one is too many, so I was wondering if the Europeans are offered better value for their money. That would definitely explain the large increases in subscriptions.

I don't know the costs EC, But I did read, unlike here, they actually offer FREE channels in HD as well.

We are behind the times here and also getting ripped off if you sub to them.

BTW may favorite radio channels are on 91W C-Band.. it's parked there often.

Long live FTA!!!
