A New York family's dream vacation to Disney World ended on a sour note, after a 13-hour, $900 cab ride home.
Snowstorms in New York forced the family to rebook their flights from Florida to Buffalo, but after learning buses were not in service to take them home, the family took a taxi.
"We arrived at Delta around 12:30 but they told us they cancelled all the flights and the next available flight for us would be on Wednesday," Emilian Emeagwali told ABC News. "So I decided to book a flight with JetBlue to take us to Buffalo, and from there we took a cab."
Taxi driver Eddy Emran said he would get them home if "they were willing to pay," the New York Times reported.
From Buffalo, the cab driver travelled 13 hours to bring Emaegwali and her five children back to Elmont, N.Y.
The cab fare would normally be $1,100 from Buffalo to New York, but the driver offered a reduced price.
Blizzard conditions en route made for white-knuckle driving, Emeagwali said.
But the family, who left Disney World at 9 a.m. Sunday, arrived home safely on Monday at 10 a.m.
