Transferring VHS to DVD

For anyone who might have that old collection of VHS tapes lying around and want to transfer them to DVD, here is a little thing I picked up the other day. It is an honestech VHS to DVD 5.0 Deluxe. It measures 3 7/16" X 2 5/16" X 7/8" and connects to the VCR with RCA composite wires and to the laptop/desktop via a USB cable, all wires provided. I picked it up, the other day, on sale for $39.95. We loaded the software and proceeded to try to copy a VHS to DVD. Amazingly, it worked just as stated. Very simple and straight forward to use. You just need to remember that the quality of the VHS tape will have a huge impact on the DVD quality. I copied a few that are very old and have been played over and over. The quality.....not great. Copied one that was in great shape and ended up with a good DVD. This thing also gives you two burning options. You can burn to DVD or Blu-ray. One trick I have discovered is that you cannot play with the volume once you start recording. If you change volume when recording it comes through on the DVD. Nothing beats being comfortable and watching TV to suddenly have volume double unexpectedly. Here is a pic of this thing.

I had a gadget called Pinnacle Dazzle Vhs to DVD Recorder Burner with Composite and S-Video Inputs USB, I think it cost around 50 dollars and worked pretty good as well.
I just looked for it and it's gone..I think it got stolen when I had the break and enter...:wtf:

And you thought all they got was that poster!! They are now making a living transferring VHS to DVD for people. Naw, that would be too much like work for people like that!!

I just bought a device like this with the hopes of being able to record TV shows through the av out on my receiver. I paid about 7$ shipped so hopefully it works out.
