A new spy satellite was launched on early Sunday morning by the United States on a large unmanned rocket. Officials are saying that the satellite is the largest one in the world.

The rocket launched right around 6:00 AM EST from Cape Canaveral, Florida and the payload was one that was launched for the United States National Reconnisance Office.

The satellite is called the NROL-32 was actually due to be launched months ago but due to some technical glitches was delayed until Sunday. The launch was supposed to take place last fall. As far as the weight of the satellite, there has not been an official word. The heaviest satellite that has been recorded was the Terre-Star 1 which was launched in the summer of 2009 and that was an estimated 16,000 pounds.
