VLC Media Player

I'd like to start posting pictures, as you know I don't do that too often, using vlc media player. I find most of the pics I post with my camera are not clear and someone told me to use vlc by hooking up my receiver with my computer via lan. I am definitely not high up on the tech smarts and was wondering if anybody has used this before. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

The receiver's firmware must have the capability to communicate via your lan or wifi. Otherwise you're better off taking snapshots with a camera.

Do you want a picture of just the channel video or both channel video and OSD to show off channel name, signal level, parameters, etcetera? The channel video can be done on any receiver that can record. Just record a half minute of a channel and then play the recording with VLC and under the video menu, "Take a Snapshot." For the OSD to be included, you need a receiver with a web interface that you can communicate with over the network that allows you to capture OSD, picture, or both. Receivers that can run Enigma2, for example, should have this capability.
