On April 8, 2014, support and updates for Windows XP will no longer be available.

What is Windows XP end of support?

Microsoft has provided support for Windows XP for the past 12 years. But now the time has come for us, along with our hardware and software partners, to invest our resources toward supporting more recent technologies so that we can continue to deliver great new experiences.

As a result, after April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, including automatic updates that help protect your PC. Microsoft will also stop providing Microsoft Security Essentials for download on Windows XP on this date. (If you already have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, you will continue to receive antimalware signature updates for a limited time, but this does not mean that your PC will be secure because Microsoft will no longer be providing security updates to help protect your PC.)

If you continue to use Windows XP after support ends, your computer will still work but it might become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Also, as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, you can expect to encounter greater numbers of apps and devices that do not work with Windows XP.

How do I move all my Windows XP stuff to a new PC?

You can move your Windows XP stuff with Laplink, a free data migration solution that will walk you through all the steps to getting your files, setings, and user profiles from your Windows XP PC to your new Windows laptop, desktop, or tablet. (Note that you will need your Windows XP PC to migrate your data, and you can only migrate to a PC running Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1.)
 
You can still get updates for Windows XP through 2019, I have the patch file but I don't know if its ok to post it or not.
 
Its not a patch as such, just an entry into registry. All you are doing is fooling XP into thinking its Windows XP Embedded POSReady version.

The only reason why these updates are still available are because there are still a lot of ATMs worldwide still running XP, it wouldn't be in Microshafts interest to knobble the worlds cash machines. Most of the POS systems (Point of Sale) in Europe are also still running Windows XP including the ones owned by Asda (Walmart in the UK).

I dont think Microshaft would really want to upset one of its biggest customers.

1. Create a new plain text document.
2. Paste the contents displayed above into it.
3. Save the new document as xp.reg.
4. Double-click the Registry file afterwards to add the contents to the Registry.

Yes, I just wanted to let everyone know they don't need to go out and buy a new OS, that they can still update XP.
I like to keep it on a usb drive, its fast and easy that way, 3 clicks and you are done.
 
To be honest i ditched Microsoft stuff years ago. I use Linux Mint on my main PC and OSX Server on my Mac.

I wont buy an Xbox either as i detest Microsoft. I'm Quite happy with my PS3. I may get a PS4 when the price drops. I think £350 ($550 US or $630 CAD) for a PS4 takes the mick.

I have one PC in the house running Windows 7 and even with 8Gb of ram it runs soooooo slowly.
