Ad Mute

I noticed that PlutoTV audio is muted when ads start and the audio comes back on when the program starts again. Is this a feature built into TNAP or is it a plugin?

Yes, its not happening on every stream. I can say with 100% certainty that I seen this on CBC news, NBC news, Homeful stream and others... I also noticed that you need to switch to the channel while the program is streaming. If the first thing you see is an ad when you turn on the receiver or switch to a channel, then it doesn't work. I seen as soon as the ad starts, audio switches off immediately. When the program starts again, the audio and video are out of sync a bit but it quickly synchronizes. I asked the folks on Mute Ad Audio - Linux Satellite Support Community if this is a newly implemented feature or plugin. Doing an internet search, I see there was discussion about implementing this feature.

Following your tips, I couldn't duplicate the problem. There was no NBC news available. CBC news and Homeful were fine during commercials with audio on even if I switched to them while a commercial was playing. Have you updated your Pluto TV lately using its plugin? I did yesterday and several streams were no longer available (e.g. Ed Sullivan, Johnny Carson).

I just updated my PlutoTV plugin and tried it again to make sure I'm not losing my mind and it muted as soon as the ad started and audio started again when the program came back but out of sync for a short while, then syncronized Here are my settings and the channel I seen this on is NBC News Now (PlutoTV US).

What happens if you create the Bouquets using 4097 as the Player Service? I was using 5002 last week and did have a problem with the Plutotv ads.

Mine is from Pluto TV (Local). That probably explains the difference of me not seeing NBC news. Attached are my settings for comparison. These are defaults since I never knew you could config this plugin. I'll try Pluto (US) and Pluto (UK).

While tuning Pluto (Australia) during the commercial window (no actual commercial playing; just the Pluto logo/music), it muted the audio. I loaded Pluto (Australia) with the Player 5002. All others which work correctly were loaded with the default Player 4097.

OK, good to know you are seeing what I'm seeing... Yes, even the logo/music gets muted... I haven't tried Australia but I am trying to duplicate the mute audio on OpenATV to see if the same settings in TNAP will produce the same results in other images. I have a Zgemma H7AC that I'm setting up for my dad. I'd use the TNAP image but its not available for a Zgemma.

I will try 4097... I had to get going on some other stuff around the house so I'll try to carve out some time during the week. I setup the Zgemma with Open ATV in my dad's place and the audio muted automatically on CNN so maybe its a mode 2 thing. Many configs and channels to test in order to post some reliable information for everyone. At least we see it happening...

Good day, I tried service 4097 and audio does not mute from what I observed. Changing the service to 5002 does mute audio for commercials and unmutes when the commercial is over, with a brief re-sync period of audio and video. The next thing is to understand why this is happening. Here are my PlutoTV plugin settings for muting audio. I have this working on 16 channels in my favorites list. I still have more to add while deleting 4097 service channels.

Why do you need to use 5002? Does it add any benefits? If just switching to 4097 solves the issue, then why not use 4097? Muting commercials sounds beneficial. Maybe that's a positive feature of 5002?

The issue for me is the annoying commercials. I want commercial audio to mute. I originally thought this was a feature designed into TNAP but it seems it is directly related to the service type. Using 4097 does not solve any issue for me. Using 5002 mutes commercials and that is what I prefer. Would be nice to know what the different is between each service type and why this happens. I shared my settings for those that would prefer to mute commercial audio.
