CW Channels on G17

Yes they are open for me... But I am using the Manhattan for C-band..not the openbox I use that for KU. Loading a saved TP_PROG channel list from your previous openbox file should fix that if there not working with the latest file.
 
Thanks. This is the first time I have updated firmware since I got my S9, last Spring and for some reason my attempt to reload my channel list didn't work. Wouldn't have mattered anyway as I didn't have the CW's
 
This is the first upgrade file where the CW channels didn't come with it open, all previous files came with the CW channels, Russia Today and one other channel on 85w which I can't remember.
 
Was a bit scary, for a while. Told my wife that the CW's on G17 would be open again, and when they weren't there, I got some evil looks, ha ha!! I think she thought I was handing her a snow job so I could spend the day playing with the dish. On another note, though, is there any reason, anyone can think of, why the picture is so much better? On the same channels as before, the picture is much crisper and the colors much better. Did nothing in the way of color adjustments on the TV but as soon as I tuned into the first station, it is the first thing we both noticed. Not talking a minor improvement, here. Very dramatic
 
Not quite sure about improved picture quality EC. I would suggest loading a previous file with the CW channels and save them to usb and the reload the latest file adding the CW channels.
 
One thing at a time, bud. Before my next attempt, I need to figure out how to ensure that the channel list is actually saved so I can dump it back in. I've also noticed, that compared to the original file, my S9 blind scan is much slower.

The early openbox files were very fast with the blindscan, and as they added things it has slowed down somewhat..I don't see that changing now.
I do like the S10 menu over the S9, saving the channel list is easy enough if you need any help ask Costa...lol ..just kidding

Kid all you want, Viper, but I spent enough time terrorizing Costa, yesterday. I'm going to give him a nice long break. :brew::brew:
 
I have attempted to save my channels several times on the s9 without success but have done it successfully with the manhattan. Viper, what do you think about posting a step by step way of saving channels on an openbox?
 
Never had a problem saving the channel list with the openbox..all you need to do is dump the TP_PROG list..this is your channel list.
Then whenever you load a new file you just use the upgrade by USB to load the TP_PROG list and all your channels and sats are there.

This is an older PDF but still applies.

So you just go to MISC Files in dump mode..choose TP_PROG press the green button on remote to add, then the yellow button to dump..when done it will ask you to press the ok button, and you will see success.

When you exit from the menu.. power off the box with the red button, wait a few seconds and turn on again..then you will see you have all your channels and sats back.

First you upgrade the new firmware..remove your USB stick safely, then load the TP_PROG list on it and insert again to upgrade the channel list..It's a two step process. I edited my post above, just remember to power off the box after loading the channel list or you won't see the changes..This could be why some have not had success.
 
Ouch!! I would never have thought of powering the S9 down after loading the channel list. When I dumped, it showed that the list was loading but then when I went to find channels........nothing. Guess this explains why, eh?

Exactly EC, until you power off and on, you won't see the changes. these little details can sure matter..you should be good now, let me know if you have any issues.

I'm either blessed or cursed to have one just around the corner...But we still do live in the dark ages in Ontario..remember not long ago the beer and lcbo stores were not even open on a Sunday..

This if off topic..but we're staff.. heh heh...
