EB, thinking of replacing my old Duo2 with this receiver if they start to offer the optional PnP Gigablue Dual DVB-S2x Tuner v.2 early next year. If the receiver will handle two of the pnp dvb-s2x tuners, I think I will give it a try. It seems to have eight muiltiboot slots as standard. But I am sure more can be added with a microsd card to use as a test unit.

More or less, Lipstick on a Pig is what it looks like to me.
PNP tuners were optional in the GigaBlue UE that I paid several hundred U.S. dollars for. The PNP tuners in the UE were junk, with advertised blindscan that did not not work! "Blindscan works in the GigaBlue Quad Pro" the GigaBlue reps say. "Yeah....sure....Show me" I say.

No usb tuner support to date in the GigaBlue Quad Pro. USB tuners did not work in my UE either.

Full Band Capture or FBC tuners are junk when used on North American satellites. The FBC tuners in the UE were not very sensitive and could not play some formats. We cannot take advantage of the Full Band capture capability like Europe can, so these tuners are poor performers for North America.

Why no support from OpenPli?
GigaBlue knows what is needed and required by OpenPLi to support this receiver, yet to date, they have refused to provide it. My personal experience with GigaBlue support was worse than Vu+.

And finally, why call it GigaBlue Quad Pro when it is not a Quad tuner receiver like the original GigaBlue Quad. For the moment, I will pass on this one.

Looks like another "buy first and then we'll fix it" receiver being promoted to the market. But, I really hope they get their act together and fix the current gremlins sooner rather than later.

GigaBlue, I just do not have much faith in. If you look at the specs, and look at what is being offered, The GigaBlue Quad Pro appears to be nothing more than an old receiver in a new package with precious few updates. The build quality on my GigaBlue UE was okay and maybe even good for a FTA receiver, but there was no support for the product. OpenPLi lists GigaBlue as "No Manufacturers Support": https://openpli.org/download

Here is an example of apparent GigaBlue laziness or indifference.

The GigaBlue Trio Pro was introduced about a year ago. OpenPLi requires drivers and similar items to be supplied by GiGaBlue and be made available in something called a Board Support Package or BSP. This is what OpenPLi requires and GigaBlue knows it. They are probably just too damn lazy to do things properly and OpenPli refuses to build the damn image if things are not done properly. The end result is No OpenPLi support for GigaBlue Trio Pro.

Good to know.... from what I've read, even the openBlue supplied image has problems with rebooting/multiboot selection. Guess they don't believe in quality control prior to releasing a "new" receiver. TWOL at WOS said he has two of them and claims to be happy with them. I guess WOS will be offering them soon.

Someone in Europe may be very happy with this receiver because they can take advantage of features such as FBC which are almost useless to us. I think TWOL will also tell you usb tuners are not supported. My opinion is the receiver is not bad for everyone. I just don't think many in North America will be happy with it unless some changes are made. The problems with the OpenBlue image is a good example.
