Interference across the arc......

I got hit...

For the last year I thought I was being very lucky avoiding major interference from the big 3 mobile phone companies. Until now. Two days ago someone turned on a switch that started major interference problems across the arc from 55w to 127w.

Signals drop from 14-15 db to 3-4 db on the stronger sats, while the weaker sats are no longer there.

I guess I will have to pickup a new lnbf with filter like the Titanium blue C140 which I hope will allow viewing some of the sats again.

Bummer.......

same here acros Detroit river: 101w is down to 10-12dB from ~15db for a week now; same for 87w, 91w, 99w, 82w, 40w, 55w.

maybe this is the answer of our signal problems :
satellite signal

I wish that was the case, but it's not. I received the C140 lnbf with blue filter today and installed it. I was pleasantly surprised It cleared up the interference, considering the amount of pixelation and fluctuation in signal strength I was experiencing. But I need to fine tune it and find the sweet spot again.

I'll post some pixs after I get it positioned properly. So far I am a happy camper and believer of the capabilities of this lnbf.

Well, I fined tune my arc, but can't get the signals strengh it was before set 20. According to the experts, the situation should be back to normal after oct 7, so you may wait to fine tune your system.

The solar outages haven't begun for most yet in North America. It depends where you are geographically located. For many, the outages will begin as early as about October 4 (earlier for the S and SE locations) and signal losses will last only for about 5 or 10 minutes at a time for a week or so. They only last for the time that a satellite takes to transit across the location of the sun. So no signal loss is happening now for most as a result of solar outage. Interference now is probably your friendly 5G playing with you.

Update on interference at my location....

After installing and tweaking the C140 I've been able to get the majority of sats in the 55°w to 139°w to play nice. As expected, everything under 4000 mhz is blocked.

I still have interference problems with 103°w and the 4040 mhz channels. The culprit cell tower seems to be located in the gunsight of the dish aimed at 103°w. See the pixs of before and after minor interference during the day light hours. In the evening hours, the interference increases to the point of being annoying and unwatchable. Sometimes the interference at night even hits the 4120H channels on this sat. My guess... more people using the internet at these evening hours.

Overall though, I am happy to have regained the majority of the sat channels. I have ordered a C138 red filter lnbf to see if I can get the under 4000 mhz channels back too.

I'm not at totaly losing the signal, but I noticed a decrease in the signal strengh, from 34w to 135w, compared with 1-2 month ago. The channels are still watcheable, except for very weak ones at the exstremity of the arc, no mater what tp range. There is a cell tower perpendicular on my due S line (~1/2 mile), with all antennas pointing to E & W, so I assume I'm still lucky !
Also, there is another one ~1 mile to W, but a bit past 135W. I will wait another week an see.

As per Titanium page C140 covers N78, N77 low & high band, as C138 doesn't cover N77 high band, and north america is using N77 high band.

Since it will be a fast plug and play replacement, I want to see (good or bad) how it will work at my location. In my area they're installing fake 10 to 15 tall cacti and 30 foot tall palm trees to handle the increase in internet traffic. Gotta keep the kiddies happy downloading their videos and games. What a mess.......

I'll get a c140 to try it but I may need to move the dish behind a building because the cell tower here is on the back east side of the dish and in sight less than a mile away. If I even try to view a c band signal I have to reboot the Edision MIo as it kills the tuner driver.
