I just got prompted to change my password again, was 60 days old. So what!
The hackers and thieves can get past a log in no matter if the password is 1 year or 1 day old. All this does is make it difficult for ME to access the account because I can't remember all the passwords that keep changing. Lose this procedure.
 
Last place I worked, before retiring, made it mandatory for all management staff to change passwords every 45 days Was a pain but, s much as it bugged me, I figured it sure couldn't hurt. Now I have gotten to the point where I actaully chage passwords on all sites when this site prompts me to change password.

Please explain how that makes it harder to break into a message board log in.

Not saying it makes anything any easier or harder, just saying that in many situations, passwords are required to be changed on a regular basis. Just depends on the situation. On this site, it has been determined that passwords are to be changed at predetermined intervals.
 
I've noticed that some sites, if I haven't visited them for a while, want me to change the password when I log in. Others that I visit regularly, never ask.
 
It's only normal for a password reset being required after an extended period of time. Password reset is essential for staff members with access to the boards.
